Both the Shodokan and the JAA (USA) sites are extensive and their contributions complement each other well. The Shodokan site has been translated into French with a complementary French site also found in Switzerland.

1999 Aikido-L Kansai Seminar

Follow the link for a Full set of Reviews and Pictures. Below is a subset of the pictures, all taken by Peter Boylan and not necessarily in chronological order. Some of which I've added further comments to.

Fujimoto, friend and sempai, performs Shomenate on Mark Gorsuch. This is the first technique of the Junanahon of the Shodokan system and is an atemi (striking) technique. Notice how Fujimoto-san collapses on to Mark's chest making the technique far more effective and difficult to counter.

Fujimoto and Mark make up over lunch.

I perform the first of the Tachi waza from the Shodokan Koryu Goshin no Kata (Old Style Self Defence) on Fujimoto-san. A great combination of atemi (striking) and kuzushi (balance breaking).

This is the same technique as above but a little further along. Fujimoto has been brought almost to his knees in pain from what Aikikai people call nikyo. The natural tendency is to stand up after nikyo is released during which gykugamaeate (a type of striking technique) is performed. Fujimoto-san is about to go flying backwards.

Sakashita sensei teaching ryote dori from the judo Kime no Kata. The attacks for these are very similar to the attacks of the Koryu Goshin no Kata of the Shodokan system of Aikido. This of course reflects Tomiki Shihan's long association with Judo.

Aigamaeate in the Shodokan terminology - Tenchinage (Heaven and Earth throw) in Aikikai terminology. At a point just before Uke is thrown.

So I look dorky but it was damm cold.

Like I said it was cold - I loved that space heater. L-R. Kristiina Jokinen, Peter Rehse, Susan Amen, mystery student from Kanazawa, Mark Gorsuch, Rennis Buchner, Mike Kimeda.
