Rei is first introduced in Episode 4 "The Qualifier Begins" and he initially appears to be very overconfident and egotistic blader. However, upon joining the BBA, Rei becomes friendly and supportive, being relatively quiet. Further down the track, we learn Rei left China and his childhood friends the White Tigers in order to improve his Beyblading skills and experience different environments rather than staying in the same town forever. Rei battles along with his bitbeast Drigger, where he uses the quick Tiger Claw attack to speedily attain victory. Rei ignores opponent's taunts and observes their battling techniques to defeat them and can always be counted upon by his fellow team-mates for support both during and outside battle.

Max first appears in Episode 3 "Take it to the Max!" He becomes good friends with Takao and is the first person to teach him to take Beyblading more seriously. As a person, Max is exhuberant and extremely enthusiastic, always offering the team an optimistic outlook no matter what the situation. Max fits the bill perfectly for being a best friend and always looks on the bright side of things with a cheerful demeanour that never falters. Max's parents live away from each other: he lives with his dad who runs a hobby shop for beyblades in Japan while his mother is head scientist for a beyblade research insitute in America. When Max battles, he does so defensively and usually absorbs his opponent's attacks, draining their energy until they have none left and run out of spin.
The main character of Beyblade; Takao is in the beginning loud, obnoxious, overconfident, greedy and consequently does not battle very well! Although his qualities generally don't change much throughout the series, over time we come to realise his burning spirit and relentless desire for justice to be served whether when Beyblading or in real life. In the team's most desperate moments, despite his noisiness and overly stubborn nature, he can be seen in an admirable light. However, this same attitude often lands him in fights with Kai where he is generally isn't the victor. Takao's bitbeast Dragoon came from a family sword and is feared for its enormous power and devastating attack capability. Unfortunately, Takao often fails to use this to his advantage as he decides to battle head on, with no plan in mind and needs advice from Kyoujyu or the rest of the team for ideas and encouragement.

Kai was the leader of team called the Blade Sharks and was renowned for being a powerful and experienced Beyblader. Following the conclusion of the Japanese tournament, Kai is made the captain of the newly established Japanese team. Kai is particularly reclusive and tries not to befriend his team-mates, often being seen by himself. In the event that they make any critical mistakes in a battle, Kai is quick to offer wise advice. However, he is often not listened to, especially by Takao, as they do not grasp the full meaning of what he is saying, as his comments are sometimes over their heads. Kai's family life leaves much to be desired and, as its rather important in the series, I'll let you find out more about it for yourself :) When battling, Kai's attacks are quick and devastating, and a long battle involving Kai in the series is a rare thing to see.
Kyoujyu
Dubbed name: Kenny (aka. The Chief)
Age: 12-13
Nationality: Japanese
Bitbeast: Dizzi
Voice (Japanese): ?
Voice (English): Alex Hodd
Kyoujyu does not battle along with his team-mates, but instead is a Beyblade expert. Kyoujyu's bit beast Dizzi got stuck in his laptop and he works with her collecting statistics on everything about Beyblades. In addition, during the battles he sits on the sidelines recording and later reviews them to see how Takao and the others can avoid mistakes/improve their technqiues. He pesters his fellow Beybladers continuously to train for upcoming tournaments and he is quite receptive and sensitive to any off-handed comments. Despite is nerdy apperance and nagging, Kyoujyu is certainly a good friend and is respected by everyone for his expertise and commitment.
