The rain woke Rei up in the morning. For this time of the year, there had been a substantial amount of rain that has poured down in the last two weeks. "Good morning" Rei speaks out to an empty room "......Hello?" no one is home. There is only one note signed by Mariah, saying she is in the city. *great, another lonely boring day today* He thinks to himself as he sits down to watch the T.V.
At Three O'clock Kai comes home. "Hey Kai, where have you been?" Rei asks ".....Out" Kai replys "Oh yeah about last night....where were you?!" Rei asks "I looked around for you and you left. I understand I was like five minutes late but still you could of waited around!" Kai just looks at Rei, as if Rei had just done the bad deed "Yeah sorry I took a taxi home....but I got the job" Kai walks out of the room. Rei puts his hands on his head and lies on the couch watching the T.V. "Oh yeah do you know where Mariah is?" "No clue!".
It is now Six O'clock and the sun is beginning to set Rei is sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee. Kai walks into the room and sets his bed up. "I'm going to bed now Rei could you please keep it down?" Rei puts down his coffee "Yeah ok.....I'm going to look for Mariah, it's getting late"
"Don't even bother...she knows the way home and the city is too big" Kai says. Suddenly the phone rings. "Hello?" Rei says "Hey Rei, it's Max....I'm just calling to remind you about the tournament tomorrow" Rei looks at the calendar, today is the twenty third. "Ok sure what time do we meet?" Rei asks Max "Seven O'clock sharp ok? see you there" Max hangs up.
Rei is in the city centre looking for Mariah. The rain is still pouring down and there is no sign of Mariah. Rei walks onto an overpass and looks down at the traffic driving by. He decides that Kai is right, she knows her way home and the city is too big to find her. *she is not avoiding you* Rei thinks to himself as he walks into a coffee shop. Rei sits down at a table and orders a coffee. There is a newspaper in front of him with the new outdoor tournament on the front. There are odds on who will win at the front as well. Of course the Blade breakers are tipped to be the winners. Rei recieves his coffee and stares out the window. *Why does Lee want me dead so bad?* Rei thinks to himself. *I barely did wrong!*
Rei arrives back home and Kai is fast asleep and the T.V is still on. Rei walks over and shuts the T.V off. He walks into his room and Mariah is asleep on her futton. Rei rolls his eyes and Lies on his bed staring at the skylight.
The nex day Rei wakes up at Eleven. "Hello" Rei speaks out to Kai....who is asleep "uurgh what time is it?" Kai says under his breath. "umm eleven O'clock" Rei replies "AAAH!" "Im late for work Seeya!" Kai says while rushing out the door. Rei walks out and shouts "WHERE'S MARIAH?!" Kai turns around "DONT KNOW!" then Kai continues running down the street. Rei walks back into his home and folds Kai's bed up and continues to watch T.V.
It's six thirty and Kai walks in the door, Mariah is still out. "Hey Rei...whats up?" Kai says. "I think Mariah is trying to avoid me" Rei replies.
Kai just looks at Rei who is curled up on the couch all depressed. "Why would she do that?" Kai asks Rei. "I don't know, she is probably having a hard time away from the white tigers....She probably thinks that I wouldn't understand what she is talking about" Rei says. "....I see" Kai sits down on the sofa. "Don't you have a tournament to get readt for?" Rei looks at the time "....yeah I better get going then...see you later" "bye". Rei walks out the door and Kai grabs the remote and changes the channel.
Ten O'clock. Rei gets back from the tournament. "How did you go?" Kai asks. Rei pulls out a gold medal from his pocket "Max and Tyson won easily..but I couldn't hold it together and I was beaten quickly" Rei says. The front door begins to open, Rei runs into his room. Mariah enters his bedroom. "Where have you been for the past two days?" Rei asks "Oh hey Rei no where important...just in the city" She says. "Sure in the city for two whole days....You know I was going to ask you out to the movies yesterday...and today I wanted you to come to the tournament...but you were out........Are you trying to avoid me?" Rei says. Mariah lookes shocked "No way why would I do that!" Mariah exclaims "I dont know you tell me!" Rei shouts. "REI! I am NOT avoiding you" Mariah shouts ".....look I am really tired I just want to go to bed" Mariah says. "ok" Rei says walking out the room. Rei walks over to the kitchen table and puts his head down on the table and slowly drifts off to sleep.
The next morning Rei wakes up and there is a note between his arms...its from Mariah *I'm down at the seaside park*. Rei folds the note into his pocket gets in his car and drives off to the park.
"I thought you would be down here..this is my favourite spot for relfection" Rei says to Mariah "Yeah this is a nice place" Mariah says looking away from Rei. Rei clears his throat and looks down at the floor "I'm sorry I shouted at you Mariah...I was frustrated and tired at the time. You confused me" Rei confesses. Mariah looks at Rei who is still looking down at the floor. "I am sorry....I was avoiding you because I did not feel as if I am making a contribution to you and Kai....you know that he got a job and started to contribute to the house I felt i was no longer wanted or needed as much anymore.....so I went out looking for a job" Mariah says. Rei looks up at Mariah. ".......Mariah tell me the truth....do you still want to be part of the white tigers....is that what this is about?" Mariah looks down at the floor "............Yes...." Rei sighs "You know...Mariah...if your heart is elsewhere you must follow it....I can't make you stay with me and if you think you want to re-join the white tigers.........nothing is stopping you." Mariah closes her eyes, a tear rolls down her cheek. "No......I want to stay with you....They wont want me back...." Rei takes her hand
"Ok....lets go home".
Rei pulls up to his driveway, they have said nothing to eachother during the trip back home. *come on Rei this is it say it* he thinks to himself as he walks up the stairs. Rei stops just before the front door. "Mariah...." Mariah turns around. "Yeah Rei" Rei hesitates ".......I...I love you....Mariah" Mariah looks at Rei for a second. He is looking straight into her eyes and she is looking back. ".......I love you too" Rei smiles and takes her hand. She looks up to him, another tear rolls down her cheek as she closes her eyes, smiles and finally presses her lips on to Rei's. The kiss would of lasted for a lifetime as Mariah felt a warm breeze blow between them. She finally knows her place.
