In addition to the old town, the two main sights of Prague are the Jewish Quarter and the Hrad (castle). The Jewish Quarter, whose inhabitants were "taken care of" by Hitler, is now a series of synagogues, ceremonial halls, and a cemetery turned into a museum on the culture and history of the Jews. The Hrad, the old castle, is something I know less about as most of the info was in Czech. The St. Titus cathedral inside the Hrad walls is the final resting place of the first Hapsburg king and queen. Also near the Hrad is the Golden Road where Kafka once lived, and where you can now buy classical music, or chain mail. My great regret is I did not take a picture of the view of Prague from the Hrad hill. Sigh. |
