Preventer Base Parking Lot, March 26, AC 201, 4:31 P.M.

(Relena's P.O.V.)

Paygen opened the door to my long black limo (I re-painted it because I finally realized how the color pink made me look so immature). I nodded my head in thanks, and headed to the Preventer entrance as Paygen returned to the front seat of the vehicle to wait for me.

I was about to open the door when a big smiling face popped up before me,

"Hello 'Jousan! Haven't seen your pretty lil' head in a while!"

Duo. I love the way he could always brighten any room he takes refuge in. But making me almost die at age 21 of a heart attack caused by surprise wasn't my idea of fun. But at least he meant well. As he always did, the big friendly guy, that's him.

A smile spread across my face, and a yell like a kindergartner came out of my mouth,

"Duo!" It was probably the first time I REALLY smiled in about a year.

I opened my arms for a big bear hug which he returned full force. I looked around the big entrance hall of the base, clearly furnished to look as professional as possible.

People passing by gave us strange looks, for that I can understand. It's not every day you see a government official such as myself act like a carefree toddler. I quickly let go of Duo, a slight blush adorning my face. I changed my tone to sound as if I was at an important meeting.

"It's nice to see you Duo. I see you knew I was coming for Heero... Do you think you could possibly lead me to his office?"

Duo, hearing me speak like a proper young-woman, just made a huge nod, took my arm, and started skipping down the hall with me dragging behind in an effort to keep up. He obviously didn't care about public appearances. That's why I like him so.

We soon reached the end of the hall, when we reached the last door on the left, he said in a British accent,

"I hope m'lady enjoyed the jog around the building. At least this way ye get exercise. Sitting at thy desk all day is really wearing off on thee."

Before I could bop Duo on the head, Heero's door opened. I was met with the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, just as I remembered them from years before. His chocolate hair still un-trainable. Just the way I like it. But everything else from cheekbones down had changed.... Hey wait a minute! WHAT AM I THINKING! I do not love him, I do not love him, I do not love him, I. DO. NOT. LOVE. HIM. I just kept on repeating that phrase over and over in my head.

"Relena?" Heero's voice got me out of my semi-dream world. I looked up at him to be met with a puzzled expression. If it wasn't for the fact I was so embarrassed over my stupor, I would have gasped at the fact he showed emotion. "Oh... Sorry there, didn't get enough sleep last night... Never really do..." I said with a nervous laugh.

After that Heero's expression changed back to his usual cold glare. There was a moment of silence between us, all the while Duo was just standing there, looking over the situation. He finally got the feeling of uncomfortable and said with a jolly ring of a voice,

"So, time ta get the pretty princess in the carriage to the castle. Is the prince ready for the trip?"

He was rewarded with a glare from both Heero and myself. I straitened my blue office coat, and said in a bold and un-wavering tone,

"Of course little pawn."

I knew how much he hated that nick name, as much as I hated weapons. But I guess he was in a very aloof mood, he just brushed it off and said,

"Righty-o, onward then!"

Duo grabbed my arm as before and started prancing down the hall, all the while singing the song, "Acuna Matata" from the Disney movie "The Lion King".

Heero just walked quietly behind us, all the while I could feel his glare right on me. But I wouldn't show any feeling toward him. He never showed any towards me. But I don't care, I just want to win this game of mind over matter.

But in the back of my head the little smidgen of a part of me was whispering...

*I just hope he lightens up some at home, maybe I can get him to express feelings openly.....? Nah. That'll never happen...*

*Or could it?*

"SHUT UP!" I screamed in my head. Damn lingering feelings.

*Lingering? You got that wrong girl. Really wrong.*
