Rickko's '94 XLH 883 to 1200 Upgrade

The links below break the upgrade process up into printable reports for your use. They describe the way I upgraded my 1994 XL Basic 883 Sportster to a 1200 cc monster bike. Of course it can be done differently than I illustrate but my take on this is the more you read and familiarize yourself with information such as this, the better prepared you are to tackle the job yourself.

This rebuild consists of choosing Wiseco dished 9.5:1 pistons, X-Hasting rings, Harley-Davidson paper base gaskets, Bartels .027 High Compression Head Gasket Kit, Andrews N2 Cams, the Yost Power Tube and normal Stage I modifications (ie. Screamin' Eagle (SE) air cleaner, the Vance & Hines SS2R race exhaust system, rejetting the carb to 45/180, and using an SE coil, an SE 1200 Ignition module and SE Spark Plug wires & plugs).
