He is often egotistical, rude, and cute. Although he is a demon, he usually does, begrudgingly, end up being the "good guy." He originally planned on using the Jewel to become human so he could live with Kikyo. However, due to a number of unexpected events that are later discovered to have been Naraku's doing, he ends up pinned to a tree by Kikyo's spiritual arrow for 50 years. It is then taht Kikyo's reincarnation, Kagome stumbles into the fuedal era and pulls the arrow from Inuyasha's shoulder. A series of events after this lead to the two forming a reluctant team to retreive the shards of the Sacred Jewel. During this quest, Inuyasha inherits Tetsusaiga, a sword made from his father from one of his father's fangs to protect Inuyasha's human mother. Being the reincarnation of such a powerful priestess, Kagome also posseses some special powers. These include the ability to cleanse shards of the jewel, and to see or feel where they are in order to find them. Kagome is also a remarkable resourceful girl. She isn't your usual clutzy, ditzy heroine. In fact, she's just the opposite. She does well in school and can handle herself quite well in almost any situation (she uses brains more than brawn to get out of sticky situations). Despite being in the past most of the time, she still manages to keep up with her schoolwork. 50 years ago Kikyo was a priestess who guarded her village. She was the guardian of the Shikon Jewel. She is later resurrected as the girl Kagome. Despite this, Kikyo is later reborn in a body made of her old bones and clay. This was made for her by the witch, Urasue, who had Kagome's soul drawn out of her and then allowed it to return to Kikyo. However, shortly after Kikyo returned from the dead, her sould returned to Kagome. Now the only thing that is keeping her alive is her hate for Inuyasha as she seeks to kill him by dragging him down to Hell with her. However, because her body is not real she needs to absorb the souls of other people to keep it from deteriorating. Kikyo is also Kaede's older sister.

Shippo fights the demon until he can no longer stand, at which point Inuyasha shows up. By the time they arrive, Kagewaki has been dead for some time, his body now in the posession of Naraku. Although he's somewhat promiscuous when it comes to women, Miroku is actually a pretty nice guy. He's also a pretty good fighter, and that vaccum in his hand is useful in a battle. He has a habit of asking every woman he meets, especially young beautiful ones, if hey will bear him an heir. Though he loses Tetsusaiga to Inuyasha, losing his left arm in the process, after discovering he is unable to weild it, he is the sole heir of he Tenseiga, his father's sword of healing and resurrection. The jewel is evil when possessed by someone with dark desire and good when possessed by someone with a pure soul and good intent. Because it originated from the conflict between the souls of the priestess, Midoriko, and the demon that killed her, the Demon Slayers could not handle the Jewel and entrusted it to Kikyo for purification. He has quite a lot of spunk and posseses a certain degree of magic. He can transform, but when he does he often retains his bushy little tail or just looks silly (like that big baloon thing he becomes) and he can't hold it for very long. This little spirit becomes quite attached to Kagome, but often argues with Inuyasha, especially when he feels it's Inuyasha's fault when Kagome returns to her own time for short periods. Once Shippo starts traveling with these odd companions, he becomes part of the core of their group is rarely seen without the other two (Kagome and Inuyasha - though Miroku and Sango join them later on). If you reach out your hand to the exciting future,
You can shine

It's wonderland
Your heart was trembling, the night where no tomorrow was visible,
Couldn't believe in anything, covering (my or your) ears,
When I met you, I found my true place to be,
An unpretentious gentleness was there and we are awakened,

I want to change the world
Never be lost again,
If I shape the future I have with you, (I/we) can fly anywhere,

Change my mind
Never let your passion go,
Spread your wings to the unknown tomorrow,
You can take off

Just a little more and I'll disgrace myself
If I did that, I'd be hurting myself

Even if I'd lost my way
The song of truth flows in my heart
So I'd make the song of truth my guide

Closing - Itazurana Kiss (English):
I give you a mischievous kiss and then make an innocent face
Can someone as ill-temepered as me be childish?
I've gotten used to saying brazen things
But I still can't say "I love you." My sweet emotion

I just checked my smile one last time in the mirror
So if we rushed ahead looking for excitement, we can hold our heads up high
I can laugh so boldly it's shocking

I give you a mischevous kiss and then make an innocent face
Can someone as ill-tempered as me be childish?
But I still can't say "I love you." My sweet emotion
I've gotten used to saying brazen things

Closing - Come (English):
If sadness is overwhelming you,
It's okay to lean on me and cry

I get, I get, I get, get the feeling
I get, I get, I get, get the dreaming

Just like this

Come my way, near this darkness
Come close to me, I lit a light now

I'll be with you, I'll be with you
I'll be at your side only,
So come my way
