rose Stay Awake!

You were up late partying and now you have to make it to work when you'd rather stay at home and snooze. Here's how to jolt yourself awake without the caffeine pills.

* Don't guzzle coffee. It will give you a low just after and make you jittery. Instead, drink something sugary and citrusy like orange juice to keep you up.

* Pop a peppermint. Or a lemon drop. Both mint and lemon smells help keep you awake.

* Take a brisk walk. A walk early in the morning can get your energized. If you can't go out, just do a few jumping jacks or jog a little to get your blood flowing. Don't work out too hard or you'll tire yourself out.

* Meditate. Sometimes, just sitting still with your eyes closed a few minutes on the train or bus, or when you're waiting for something, can give you the little energy you need. If you can practice putting yourself into a deep meditative state almost immediately, you'll find you need less sleep.

* Listen to peppy music. Loud energetic music with a beat will get you in the mood to dance and will give you a little adrenaline rush.

* Take a cool shower, or wash your face with cool water. Avoid hot baths and hot showers, which not only dry out your skin but also leave you exhausted. A great trick is to alternate warm and cool water in the shower to really get energized!
