Winter can be harsh on you and your skin. Make sure you know how to keep your body healthy: * Drink, drink, drink. The lack of humidity can be scary and make your lips and skin dry and flaky. So drink lots of water (not caffeine!) to keep hydrated. * Smack! Your lips won't be soft and pretty unless you stop licking. Get a good lip balm - avoid the medicated kind unless you havee a serious lip problem - or just use petroleum jelly on your lips. * What sun? It doesn't look like there's sun out there necessarily, but it's there. UV is just as harsh in the winter - don't believe the hype that it's not. Wear your sun protection - especially if you get snow. You can get burned just by the snow's reflection of UV rays! * Stay warm, and eat well. The obvious. But make sure you're dry and are really wearing layers. Don't use this season as an excuse to quit your great eating habits (or make it one to start good ones!) - get enough fruits and veggies. * Not so bitter pill. Make sure you get your vitamins. Studies show that most people don't get all the nutrients they need even from a so-called balanced diet. So take a multivitamin pill - a good dose of vitamins B and C (C will help those winter colds, too) is called for. E will help your skin, as well. Make sure you don't overdose on any vitamins, though, and if you're taking more than the RDA (recommended daily allowance) of any vitamins, check with your doctor. You'll stay beautiful and healthy all winter long! |
