rose What Part of NO Can't You Say?

Sometimes saying no is harder than you think it would be. But you have to say it sometime. This might make it a tad easier:

* Practice makes perfect. Say it to yourself. Say it LOUD. Really loud. You'll get used to it.

* Whenever you feel compelled to do something you really don't want to, try saying no. Not "I wish I could" or "I'd love to but.." but just plain "No, thanks." You'll see, people don't take it as badly as you think. If you're swamped, say "No, I'm sorry, I just have too much to do." Don't forget to add the word NO to your sentence.

* Decide how many extra things you really have time for. Decide what's important and what's not. It's easier to say no to a neighbor than to your own kids or someone else you love. Prioritize your no's and yesses.

* If you have a hard time saying no to certain people, tell them. Don't avoid them, but instead just ask them not to ask you to do things they know you don't have time for. They'll only come to you when you have time, and you'll get to do the things you love.
