rose Survive in the Gloom

Some days can be dreary. They can be really gloomy and rainy and not fun at all. But you can more than just survive if you remember yourself.

* Strive to make yourself better. Don't just give up and say, "well, things aren't going well, so I must be useless." Of course you're not! Every failure is a chance to improve. Seize the opportunity!

* Write down all the things you love about yourself. Keep them aside for when you feel down - keep adding a new thing every day. You'll see - you're improving!

* Spend time. When you love something, you spend time with it and go out of your way. Take time for yourself to sit and think about where you're going, what you're going to do, what you can do to help make the changes you want. It's only with a lot of thinking and reflection that you can truly understand who you are.

* Help others. Helping others is a way to learn more about you. You'll be amazed at the abilities others - kids, friends, and strangers - bring out in you.

* Know your feelings. What makes you mad? What makes you happy? Why is it that you cry at the movies when someone's hospitalized but laugh when someone slips and falls? Listen to those little nagging voices in your head. Learn more about how your mind works, and you'll start to appreciate how much more you have to offer.
