"A thing of beauty is a joy forever." John Keats had this to say in his poetry, about how beauty keeps away sadness. Learning to find beauty in nature everyday can be fun, and will truly drive away the spirits of darkness and gloom. * Look around at the places around you, whether you live in a city or the countryside. You can hear the unique languages of birds - listen, are they quarreling? What do they have to say? You can see the clouds - what shapes to they form? The sky is blue and the sun hides in it. Marvel at rainbows, shimmering leaves and sparkling grass. * Find the beauty in people and animals. The postman has a funny way he walks that is endearing. That cashier has a charming smile. Little children are so innocent and so cute. Your cat curls into a little ball when she sleeps, and the dog chases her in his dreams. * Even otherwise sterile things can be lovely. The way the light hits your shiny car, the rhythmic click of computer keys, the soft hum of the clothes dryer, the beautiful spotless reams of fresh paper, a shiny new penny. * Create moments of beauty - stop and point out the view to your co-passengers on your way home. Take a minute to close your eyes while you sit at the computer. Listen to the soft sounds around you, and keep your eyes open. You will see poetry everywhere. |
