Find that you head to the grocery store and come back with more than you planned - a few extra packages of cookies, ice cream, and junk food? It's time to revamp that grocery trip, and you'll soon be eating healthy. And you'll LIKE it! * Make a grocery list and stick to it. That means when you go, avoid the aisles without things you don't plan to get. Don't browse, just plan everything in advance and list them in order, then go and buy. * Plan for snack food. You can't just deprive yourself. Instead of sugary fruit candies, get real fruit. Stock up on baby carrots and celery sticks and keep them in the fridge, ready to eat. For starchy snacks, keep ready air-popped popcorn and low-salt saltines. * Avoid fat-free and fat substitutes. They look good, but you'll usually fill up with something else. You need a bit of fat, but not a LOT. Instead, just get smaller amounts of rich foods. Buy enough muffins for 1 a day instead of 2, and refuse to return to the store if they're finished too soon. * A few things can be low-fat, especially milk and yogurt. Fat-free and low-fat versions of these will help cut out cholesterol as well. Soon you'll be shopping AND eating much healthier, and better for your body!
