People say thank you for all small things, and it's wonderful to hear the words all around. But when you say it and you really want other to know you mean it, it might get drowned out. Make your thank you heard. * Make sure they know - say it loud and clear and just once. Look the other person in the eye, and take their hand or give them a hug. Make it more than just a casual "thanks" and instead a real THANK YOU. * Put it in writing. People really appreciate written notes of thank you, however small. They'll cherish your handwritten gratitude. * Show it. Gratitude isn't just about saying it - it's in every action. Return favors not because you have to but because you want to. Small kindnesses show you really appreciate the other person. * When you have time, sit down and talk. Tell the other person how much their actions mean to you. Do it over the phone or face-to-face, but do it. Go over every kindness, and though you may forget your kind acts, don't forget theirs.
