~ John Horn ~ I write this because I loved the man. Having known Jeff for 17 years I have lots of fond memories of him. We shared thousands of moments. There are just too many for me to go into any detail. However, there are two that stand above all others and speak to his sense of humor and style: two qualities of Jeff's that I absolutely love. The first concerns a birthday party thrown for me at Joe Forbeck's. It was my 36th and I had known Jeff for over a year. The party was a gas and Jeff and I shared many joints, bong hits, kamikazes and beer. Somewhere during that evening I reached that point of no return and the rest of the night is a complete blur; I can't remember if I made it home to Manitou Springs or if I passed out at Joe's. However, wherever it was I awoke, I had a birthday card, which everyone had signed. The one who signed it best was Jeff, who said "John, if you can remember any of this, then we didn't do our job." You know, he just says it all, and out of all the cards that have been signed and given to me, my favorite is from Jeff. My other favorite moment with Jeff took place in 1990. He and I were waterskiing with Rick Zahradnik down at Pueblo Reservoir. It was a great day, the sun was clear and hot, the water was smooth and so were we. We had a blast that day, and Jeff and I each wiped out a bunch of times. Then, on one of Jeff's runs, I was holding the flag and watching him, and he came up easy and clean; then, when he was out of the water and sailing on top of the sparkling glass, he pulled a beer out of his life preserver, popped it and downed it, and then saluted Rick and me… and that's how I'll always remember him. __________________________________
