The Minstrels - Come Out To Play What Wave WW11 1990
What Wave's last attempt at becoming record label moguls was this 6 song EP by Montreal's The Minstrels. Begun in 1989, the album took forever to come out and every delay meant the CD's were gaining ground and wax was being buried under the ground. Problems with cover design, (the finished product features a very cool fisheye shot by Jonathon Wenk) and about a million other things meant that by the time this thing was pressed, people were throwing away their turntables. Thank God many of you scouted the dumps and dug them out.
This group had a lot going for it - the looks, the sound, the attitude - but the album just did not sell the way it should have. Bad timing. It is a hot little platter - lots of power pop, with jangly guitars, great harmonies and strong songwriting. A few survived the flood of '91! Email for details.
