Sample 1st Email Letter

  I am an eleventh grade student at Rocky Mount Senior High School.  We are currently studying the writing process as we develop our creative writing portfolios for Fall 2001 for Mrs. Renee Martinez.  Our assignment is to exchange emails with professional writers in areas that interest us.  I am interested in ___________________.  We are to correspond with a professional writers at least four times in the next 6 weeks.  I am writing you today to see if I may email you and discuss writing and your writing process.  

I have a few initial questions for you:

1.  What inspired you to be a writer?

2.  What is the process you go through to begin and end your writings?

3.  Do you enjoy the type of writing you do?  Why or Why not?

My questions in the future will be based on the responses you give.
