
Davao is approximately 100 minutes by air from Manila and 50 minutes by air to Cebu.
Air Transportation is serviced by the three major airlines: Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air and Air Philippines.
Philippine Airlines does the three times daily flight, the Cebu Pacific Air does the six flights daily (including the 3:30 am flight) and the Air Philippines
does the flight daily. Cebu Pacific has two flights a day to Cebu, three flights a week to Zamboanga and two flights daily
to Iloilo via Cebu. Air Philippines offers flights to Manila, Cebu and Kalibo (via Cebu) - both one flight daily. There are
three major international airline that has a flights connecting to Davao. Silk Air does the Davao-Singapore flight that is
four times a week flight. Merpati and Bouraq Air offers flight from Indonesia. PAL offers flights to Manila with its Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet depending on the season.
Nevetheless with this number of flights, Davao International Aiport has many flight proposals in Hongkong, South Korea, Malaysia and Australia. With its
newly opened Davao International Airport (which handles 2.5 million passengers per year), it will be the busiest airport in the nation despite of its
international standards.
Travel by sea from Manila takes approximately 49 hours, from Cebu, 24 hours, and from Zamboanga, 17 hours. Weekly sailings from Manila,
Cebu, Zamboanga and Iloilo are done by the WG&A Shipping Lines, Sulpicio Lines and Negros Navigation. Check the newspapers or the local cable tv stations for the schedules.
Davao is six hours by bus from Butuan, six to eight hours via Bukidnon from Cagayan de Oro, and ten to twelve hours via Butuan. Travel time from
Surigao is approximately eight hours, three hours from General Santos, nine hours from Iligan City, and five hours from Cotabato City. Bachelor Express and Ceres Liner services the
Butuan/Cagayan de Oro/Surigao routes, while the Yellow Bus and Holiday Bus companies ply the General Santos city route.
The Manila/Davao route is solely done by Philtranco Bus, which holds its Manila office at Corner EDSA-Apelo Cruz, Pasay City. Provincial buses in Davao
depart from Quimpo Boulevard in Ecoland, about 20 minutes away from the city center.
Davao's main streets are San Pedro Street and Claro M. Recto Avenue, which intersect at San Pedro Cathedral, the oldest church in the city. These
streets are bounded by many department stores, banks, inns and restaurants. Davao's Chinatown is situated at Magsaysay Avenue, near the Sta. Ana Wharf. The Davao International Airport
is locatec in Buhangin, about 25 minutes drive from the center of the city. Inter-island vessels dock at the Sta. Ana Wharf, just a short ride away from the hub of the city.
Jeepneys ply the main roads within the city as well as neighboring towns, hwile pedicabs or trisikads are limited to the outskirts of city. Provincial buses,
with terminals centrally located near the downtown area, service the routes between the city and outlying municipalities of the province.
Taxis are plentiful. The flag-down rate for air-conditioned taxis is pegged at P25; non-air-conditioned taxis at P22. Car rental service are also available
and rates may vary depending on the destination.
