Well gang, the Peach Blossom went off under great
weather. Our group started out for the
waves of pink and white blooms. We rode
mile after mile. What had been areas of
peach groves were turned into new homes.
Development has greatly reduced the number of these trees. The ride was still great…but the beauty was
gone. May need to rename as the ‘In
Search of the Peach Blossoms’ for next year.
Now…looking ahead the annual USPRO Championship Bicycle
Race will be held on June 5th.
Unfortunately, RePete will be attending a family christening. My niece is having her daughter baptized
that day. So for all that were
expecting my annual ride to this event, that will not be happening. Also understand that this is the last year
that Wachovia is committed to sponsor.
There is a special energy that this race provides. If you have never attended, this could be
your last chance.
Looking for my next Quest Tour? RePete will be rolling out an old time favorite. We leave from Williamstown and go out to Ft.
Mercer on June 18. Then on July 16th
we travel to Smithville! Look in the
ride section for details. My web site
has additional info on both of these rides including the full Quest Tour
schedule.
For all of you waiting from the April newsletter for the
conclusion to my tale on high-speed interned connection, here we go…
After the fiasco at AT&T, I returned to Verizon. Instead of using their web site, went low tech and contacted them by telephone. Surprisingly this went well after contacting the representative. The high-speed kit arrived with instructions not to install until after being notified that the necessary line changes were completed. Well…then new problems developed. The telephone line went dead and was told repairs could not be made for another three days…this was well after the DSL line changes would be completed! After a strong discussion with a customer service manager, the line was fixed the following day.
With the telephone line now working again, installed the
DSL kit. Further problems were to
surprise me with the first bill. The
promotional information announced a monthly bill of $29 a month. My bill amounted to $140. Needless to say, I was again back on the
telephone. This bill was eventually
reduced to $96…that is still a long way from the $29 stated in their
commercials. The additional amounts are
a combination of items caused by telephone service, installation fees and two
months of service. To add insult to
injury, I was belatedly then told about a free wireless router that I was to
have received. Unfortunately, I already
went and purchased this item separately and had installed. I now await my next bill…
