Freewheel’n
June 06

I’ve been so busy that this release almost did not get done!!!  There are so many issues that can be addressed…let’s start with the Peach Blossom.  That went out a week late.  Scheduled for April 8th, rain prevented that from happening and we rode on April 15th.  These ‘rain’ dates seldom pull out the riders but two did join me touring what is left of the peach groves.  Development has all but destroyed…what are remaining were in bloom and we enjoyed the spectacular color.  The route was changed from last year.  The back 20 miles took in the roads leading out to Harrisonville.  These were great…but the wind was strong and by the end of that 44 mile trip, RePete was spent.  Perhaps a younger RePete that was in better conditioning could have handled.  The biggest disappointment was the disappearance of all those lovely flowering peach groves.

Looking forward, RePete is planning to attend the Pro Championship race in Philly on June 11th.  I have no formal tour scheduled…plan to leave from Williamstown around 7:00 am.  Cross the river using PATCO.  The first few laps will be seen from the Parkway, then try to venture to the ‘Hill.’  May pause at Lemon Hill before returning to the Parkway.  Anyone interested in joining my excursion can contact me. My email is on my website.

RePete is unable to be with you at the Get Ready on June 3rd.  The son of my wife’s cousin is being confirmed that day.  Guess, the bishop failed to check the club’s event calendar.  If I get a chance to talk with him, this will be mentioned…ah…maybe not.  Not sure how he or the Mrs. will take that comment.  Anyway…the Get Ready is a great ride and hope many of you join in on the ride and help with volunteer activities.

The reason for all my activity is RePete and the Mrs. are celebrating their 35th anniversary!!!  Unbelievable she endured so much…she never knew if I will be back from a ride or if a call from a hospital would arrive.  I have ridden most of those years, especially after my daughter was born.  She outgrew that bicycle seat oh so quickly.  During those years times and jobs changed and we relocated from Lakewood.  Then came the

S J Wheelmen and the rides truly began in earnest.  Along the way there were a couple of crashes…and trips to the hospital.  I was an earlier believer of wearing a helmet and remain convinced that is mandatory equipment on any ride.  So here I am…so we decided to take a well deserved cruise.  I have been on the Internet looking at so many cruises and prices!  Finally found the Crown Princess, which has its maiden voyage in June.  As with all RePete activities, this to took a strange turn of events.  RePete found out the government did not recognize our certified birth certificates for the passports!!!     Full details on this will be provided in the next release of Freewheel’n.

Safe cycling,

RePete
