RePete is
especially excited…for the next several months cycling will once again return to
the front of my activities list. The
school year has ended and that allows me some additional time from my adjunct
duties. As you will also recall, I am
now working at home. This for my job in
Bala Cynwyd. I have four, ten-hour days
that allow Wednesday as a free day. I
am leading rides on those days.
Frequently these are in the early evening, but if anyone is interested
in something else…just drop me an email.
Family
functions kept me from attending the USPRO Championship in Philadelphia. If you also missed this great event, then
let me tell you what you missed. An
early break led Chris Wherry to the stars and stripes and gave his team, Health
Net – Maxxis, the first ever hat trick in the Wachovia Cycling Series. Wherry
joins teammates Greg Henderson, winner of Wachovia Cycling Series - Lancaster,
and Gordon Fraser, winner of Wachovia Cycling Series – Trenton, as the third winner
in the men’s three race 2005 Wachovia Cycling Series. An early breakaway in the Wachovia
Liberty Classic led to Ina Yoko Teutenberg (T-Mobile) taking the overall win.
The T-Mobile team set up a perfect lead-out train delivering Teutenberg to the
line over Regina Schleicher (Equipe Nurnberger) in second and local favorite
Laura Van Gilder (Team Quark – Poconos, PA) in third. Full details and excellent photos are at http://www.wachoviacycling.com.
Now we wait
anxiously for the Tour de France…or as it has been called, the Tour de
Armstrong. Will he repeat for an
unbelievable seventh consecutive win?
As you know Discovery has replace US Postal as the team sponsor. There are numerous websites available for
those that would want to do some surfing.
Bicycling magazine has a good site at http://www.tourdefrancenews.com/tourdefrance
with much information. You can find
your way to James Startt’s article by clicking on the Read More button under
Lance News that will get you started.
While there you can enter a sweepstake to win a four-day cycling tour in
Napa Valley. This all begins on July
2. Television coverage will be provided
by OLN and a schedule is available at http://www.olntv.com/htmlpage.asp?htmlid=24.
Have you
visited the Wheelmen’s website recently?
I am impressed by the addition of the message board. There you can post a topic or reply to one
that has been previously posted. This
is a great way to share information in a timely fashion with other
cyclist. RePete has used this already
to announce rides. Starting with this
release, Freewheel’n will also be posted.
You can then view this in advance of the release of the Spoke’n Word or
provide your comments in reply. Of
course…you can also view these at my website and reply by email. For those of you that want to take the
express route to this message board, simply go to http://www.sjwheelmen.org/phpBB2/index.php.
My Quest
Tours will continue in July to Smithville on July 16. Then in August, may do the exciting trip to Atlantic
Highlands. Now you can find full info
on these either at my website, in the SJW Message Board or in the ride section
of the newsletter.
As always…
Safe
Cycling,
