FREEWHEEL'N May, 2004

The riding season has started with the Peach Blossom! On a nearly picture perfect day on April 17, two weeks after the original scheduled date, this event was completed. The weather played a large part for the delay. With the temperature just above 40 and rain a real possibility on April 3, the ride was postponed. Mother nature rewarded our patience with a dazzling display of spring colors that include the lovely pink and white peach blossoms. Yes…they were in bloom along with the apple blossoms and many others. There was full sun with the temperature in the 60’s. RePete took my photos that will be included in his web site in the near future. This year just seemed more spectacular. Development has encroached even more on this event…several more groves have disappeared. The beauty of nature seems to always be a casualty in the name of progress. At the current rate of development, this ride may be forced to be eliminated in the not too distant future. In the meantime, we can enjoy these lovely displays. Mark your calendar for April 2005 when this event will be held again!

I extend my thanks to the people at Pro Pedals in Hammonton for attending to my Trek. My honey had shifting problems and they had her back on the road in hardly any time at all.

Say…have you seen the club’s jazzy new web site? RePete recently visited and came away very pleased. This does portray us an active, modern group involved in many bicycling issues. RePete would also like to see the by-laws included as these are these set the parameters and goes to the core of the club.

Say guys…have you seen Dotsie Cowden in the recent issue of Bicycling? She is a pro cyclist that races for Team T-Mobil and was a former model and television reporter. Not only does she look fine, she has also won California’s Time Trial and Road Race Championships. Yes…as with all California girls, she has long blond hair. Do I have your interest? Well…visit www.dotsiecowden.net for more.

Coming attractions…the Smithville Tour, Tour to Wachovia’s USPRO Championship and the beginning of weekday tours. See details in the Ride section. Check into my website for the latest updates and ride info.

One more thing…my long standing email affiliation with ATT. Since purchasing my new computer several months ago, I have been unable to install my connection. No problem with the connection using the old Gateway. Installed and have been using Peoplepc on the new computer. No real reason to continue ATT. Please note my new email address below. I have been forced to modify my email handle to repeten. By the time you get to read this, my ATT account will have been discontinued.
