Freewheel'n - June, 2000

What is a primier bicycling club? Decided to checkout our new club jersey on the SJW web site. Well…the jersey was not on there! However, RePete did notice that we bill ourselves as the "Primier Bicycling Club…." It is safe to say that we are the only primier bicycle club!! There are other items that need attention. Like the hyper-link for the 2000 Convention. When you click for more information, you are taken to the 1998 Convention page!!! By the way…when can the club members view the new club jersey?

Now there are the First Union Cycling Races. Many of us old timers still refer to as the Core States Races. There is a web site at
http://www.firstunioncycling.com/index2.html where you can get the race dates and locations. These are repeated here:

  • First Union Invitational
    Tuesday, May 30, 2000 - Lancaster, PA
  • First Union Cycling presents
    The Wilmington Classic
    Wednesday, May 31, 2000 - Wilmington, DE
  • First Union Classic
    Thursday, June 1, 2000 - Trenton, NJ
  • First Union Cycling presents
    The Rolling Rock Hill Climb
    Friday, June 2, 2000 - Philadelphia, PA
  • First Union USPRO Championship
    Sunday, June 4, 2000 - Philadelphia, PA

  • First Union Liberty Classic
    Sunday, June 4, 2000 - Philadelphia, PA

RePete has been to the Wilmington and Philadelphia events. Both are worth the trip to attend. In Wilmington, you can get excellent viewing locations as the crowd is smaller. The Philadelphia race has the excitement of the Manayunk Wall! In either, you get to see many of the top cycling racers along with their teams. RePete frequently leads a tour from Williamstown into Philly. This tour is listed as a ride in Quest Tours on my web site. If you never went to these races, you are missing some great cycling events.

Safe Cycling and have a great July 4th holiday,
RePete

You can now visit Quibbles. This area provides thought provoking insight into topics of current intertest and importance to the bicyclist with that unique slant that can only be from RePete.

Then there are the Quale sites where topics are varied, like the highly imaginative Tales of Pauline.

Also visit the Quote site that contain your comments. Here you will find submissions on Bicyclist Against Helmets and many other issues and links.

So you want some exciting tours? Well, RePete has a bunch! Simply find Quest Tours on my Home Page...go there to find the best in rides in the area as well as to check on the weather!!!

Additionally, don’t forget to visit the South Jersey Wheelmen or the Outdoor Club of South Jersey or the S.O.R.E. Club web sites.
