Freewheel’n
1/99
Welcome to 1999! Seems odd as this is being written in early
November and to be already looking back on 1998. Trust that the
holidays were happy and rewarding. We now will need to prepare
for the year ahead. Although my ride calendar has yet to be
prepared, you can expect the Peach Blossom in April. In the
following months additional rides could include Fort Mercer,
Atlantic Highlands, Piney Hollow as well as others. Look for
evening outings to start in May. A special trip to Smithville is
also being considered.. RePete will also attend the Princeton
Event scheduled in August and possibly the City to Shore in
September. I need your sponsorship for this last event that is
provided to support the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. Contact me for further details on this program.
I had indicated that the convention would be highlighted...well
Glen did such a fine job in the November Newsletter that there is
little else that can be said...except that RePete rode with Gene
and Gary on a 50 miler, the last 15 miles into a grueling
headwind. Apparently the wind had little affect on them, I
exploded somewhere past the 40 mile mark!!
Say now...here are several web sites that are of interest to us
cyclist:
Cyber Cyclery at http://www.cyclery.com/ is
full of useful features including an email list, web sites and
directories. There are two very interesting areas for us
cyclist...a job board and a classified. You can even post tours
to their calendar.
Bike 411 at http://bike411.com/ also feature a classified
area. Other sections include news, upcoming races and coaching.
You can also check out area tours in Places to Ride. Apparently
you can post tours...if you visit this site and discover
how...let me know!
Bicycling in New Jersey
and Vicinity at
http://mv2.pupress.princeton.edu/ has links to several local
clubs and to a couple of weather sites. Cue sheets are available
for those interested in touring this state.
Now it is your turn...what are you interested in doing this year?
Let me know and perhaps this can be developed into a group event.
