"ONLY THOSE WHO ATTEMPT THE IMPOSSIBLE WILL ACHIEVE THE ABSURD"

PRESS RELEASE: FRIDAY MARCH 29TH 1996

The Association of Autonomous Astronauts warn that the levitation of the new Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (Goma) this Friday at midnight by The Society for the Termination of Art (START) MUST NOT TAKE PLACE!!! Friday's levitation could hold disastrous consequences for the people of Glasgow and grave consequences for all those involved.

The Association of Autonomous Astronauts believe that not only does the Gallery of Modern Art lie on a 'sinister ley-line' (from Ibrox to the statue of John Knox in the Necropolis) as claimed by START but is in fact of strategic importance in the cosmos.

If you look at the six sites mentioned by START (Ibrox Park, Goma, the City Chambers, Glasgow Cathedral, John Knox's statue and the Peoples Palace) on a map of Glasgow but include Parkhead, THE SEVEN SITES CORRESPOND EXACTLY WITH THE PLOUGH, THE SEVEN BRIGHTEST STARS IN THE CONSTELLATION URSA MAJOR.

The Association of Autonomous Astronauts warn that the HYAKUTAKE COMET (which passes Earth every 10,000 years) is set to appear in the sky this weekend in the constellation of the Plough! The Association of Autonomous Astronauts do not need to remind the people of Glasgow of the cataclysmic events normally associated with the appearance of a comet in the sky.

The Association of Autonomous Astronauts will only be present at Friday's levitation to ensure that the Gallery remains firmly fixed to its foundations.

We believe the activities of START to be highly irresponsible and that the perpetrators of this reckless act will ultimately come to no good.

This may be the explanation behind the curious appearance on the ley-line of one Barlinnie Prison!
