Deadly Newcomers (Part 1): Written by Exodus, Original Story by Exodus Lately, the Resistors had been going up against the empire on a regular basis, but Morn’s creations in particular. It was kind of amazing at how Morn had continued to improve his standards in what he made, when his sources, materials and lab were constantly being meddled with. Today he’d show them, that Calians could rise to great things only with his improvements. A female figure returned to the tiny village of Rolem, an occasional target for the empire since it was so small and insignificant, and in the way of a neccessary outpost to overthrow the whole kingdom. “It can’t be...” said the village elder as he saw her, “You’ve returned... Mistress Cammy...” She had shoulder length red hair, a green headband and sleeveless top, along with a golden skirt and boots. She had a few bloody smears on her clothing, but not her own. In her possession was a large cloth bag, and held by her belt were two knives and a red device that operated like a grappling hook, but the front blade was so sharp, it could be used as a weapon to shoot into opponents. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. I need a shower...” she replied, not caring for the praise. Shortly after, Cammy left her house with a copy of what she was wearing before, only clean. “So what’s up chief?” she asked the old man. “Several months ago, a group of soldiers came here looking for warriors, I told them about you, and they left, but then, months later, a group of robots came and attacked us. I think they were from the same place as the soldiers.” “Uh huh. So why is this place still standing?” asked a suspicious Cammy. “Well, a group of, well, kids, they protected this place.” answered the elder, unsure that she would believe him. “Hmmmm, I can’t see why, this village is of no use to the outside world.” said Cammy, although it came out more like an insult than an explanation. “Exactly, I’ve been hearing things about that empire, that they’re forcing towns and villages to pledge allegiance to them or else...” “Or else?...” inquired Cammy. “Or else they’ll send robots to destroy them, I guess...” said an unsure elder. “You’ve lost it, the ruler of this kingdom is peaceful and honourable.” argued Cammy. “You really have been away for a long time, Mistress.” stated the elder. “So what, you waited around for me to come back to help this little settlement? I wasn’t born or raised here, I just needed a home away from home so that my enemies wouldn’t track me down and harm my family.” explained Cammy harshly telling the truth. “Er...” “You know the rules, if you want my help, I expect a fee before I go rushing into a stronghold.” stated Cammy. “Yes Mistress, I presumed so.” said the elder, opening a classic treasure chest to reveal the bounty inside. “Hmmmm, its not much, but it’ll do.” sighed Cammy. “Thank you Mistress, thank you...” Meanwhile, four of the Resistors were visiting a city in the northeast kingdom Aruban, one that had some useful resources. “So we’ll leave our contact details with you, and we’ll be here if the empire threatens the city, and you’ll help us out by recycling the metal in your junkyard and giving it to us...” explained Kirie to the city’s mechanic. “Oh, I can do better than that, M’lady, I believe that you’re not terrorists, that you’re the good ones while that empire is evil, I ‘aven’t really ‘ad a purpose before, but if you’ll ‘ave me, I can be very valuable ta you.” he replied with a strange accent. “How?” inquired Turok. “I’ve been doing a lot of projects on the side of my simple job, I can not only recycle the city’s junk fer you, but I can build pretty good devices an’ weapons ta aid you in your quest.” explained the young man. “Well, that’d be great... Er... We didn’t get your name.” stated Naga. “Salvador Aegis, but everyone just calls me Salvage!” He had spiky black hair, yellow clothing and red overalls, all of his clothing was dirty with oil stains, and from what the Resistors had learned about him, he could give Gear a run for his money in terms of intelligence. “Okay Salvage, you have our number, and it can’t be traced or anything, so call us whenever you want, and we’ll probably call for your assistance from time to time and-” A distant explosion was heard. “Its coming from the scrapheap!” shouted Salvage, waving his arm and running to direct everyone towards the source. The scrapyard was almost a calamity of machines, huge junk piles lay around the place, and many machines sorted, carried and eventually modified the junk that had been placed in the cycle of Salvage’s many machines. Several coffin-sized transport shells had collapsed from their piles and littered the floor, not that the place was originally clean and neat, but the source had yet to be identified. “What the...” muttered Kirie, walking with Lucia to one side while Naga and Turok investigated the fallen transports with Salvage. “Empire robots methinks...” suggested Lucia. “But why here? In the scrapyard?” questioned Kirie, “They’d usually attack towns head on, and they don’t usually hide from us...” “Who’s hiding?” stated a cold male voice, Kirie’s eyes widened, as a heap of junk above the figure started to float and spiral upwards on its own, and flew down towards her... “Can you tell us anything about these ‘transports’?” inquired Naga. “Only that I got them this morning, from a turquoise haired chap that seemed interested in your group in fact.” explained Salvage. “Great. The only people nowadays that are interested in us usually want to kill us.” stated Turok crossly. It was then that the transport sides that was facing up were ripped and shredded to pieces, and three bizarre figures glared at the group... “Oh my god...” spluttered Kirie, throwing up a shield quickly to repel the dangerous metallic objects, they came down fast, and some of the sharper instruments would have done some damage if not for Kirie’s magic. “... A Terror Trooper?” questioned Lucia, as she overlooked their foe, “But I thought we destroyed them all?” “Some probably retreated from our last battle, but they never had power like this.” stated Kirie. “Pah, you think a robot could command this much power?” chuckled the trooper in a metallic echoing voice, although it was now apparent that there was a person inside the green and silver robot suit, “Leave this place Robot, its Her I want.” “Over my dead body...” growled Lucia. “That can be arranged...” replied the enemy. With that, the man-robot leapt off the heap of metal, somersaulted a couple of times, and landed, before sending an invisible force towards Lucia and lifting her into the air. “How’s he doing that? Unless he’s got psychic powers too. How about you try that against me!” stated Kirie. “If you wish...” he replied. With that, the man robot, shot towards Kirie extremely quickly, and picked her up physically with one hand, while holding the other one high to hold Lucia in place. “What? Am I not good enough to use your powers on?” accused Kirie. “Something like that, and besides, I want your death to last, Witch.” stated the man-robot. Kirie was hurled against a jagged pile of junk, and collapsed to the floor. “Kirie!” screamed Lucia, before the man-robot turned to her and curled his fingers towards the palm of his hand, as if crushing something, which is what his powers were slowly doing to Lucia... Meanwhile, Turok pointed his gun at a familiar face. “I thought you were dead, you would have been better off that way...” “Not until I snuff out your life, I always said I deserved your power, now we’ll finally see who is the greatest warrior among us.” Snide, an old lieutenant at the empire that was thought to have died after a battle against Turok, was looking different. He wore parts of his original armour, but the left side of his body was a twisted arrangement of machines, and Snide’s left arm was a long tangled mess of metal that led to a large metal skeletonal shaped hand with sharp claws at the ends of the fingers. The other two cyborgs were lesser known: The red armoured man who once wielded the pulse rifle in Grautz, now with small additions to his face, and two differently-sized cannons instead of hands, and the last member was a gold robot trooper from the Overrun Project, now fitted with many new weapons, including a couple of missile boxes on his shoulders, and many additions to his hand claws. “Friends of yours?...” questioned Salvage, reaching into a secret cache, pulling out some futuristic gloves, putting them on, and adopting a fighting stance. “We’ve battled, but we thought they would be punished by death.” stated Naga. “Looks like Morn got to them first.” added Turok. “Introduce yourselves to them guys, I don’t think you were defined enough to make an impact when you first met the Resistors.” smiled Snide, with utmost confidence in the victory. “I was Squad Leader Dai, your girlfriend cost me my chance at wielding the pulse rifle, but these new cannons will do.” “I was Squad Leader Banter, you probably don’t remember me when I was human, but its because of your team that I was mechanized. You don’t realise how many troopers died in the Overrun Project, all the troopers in that battle used to be people!” “And I thought that by destroying Morn’s machine, he’d build less robots out of people, but I guess he knows how to do it manually...” cursed Turok. “Get them Techno Warriors!” ordered Snide... Back at the empire, a soldier nervously led Cammy Ramirez through the halls, and into the room where Iyaxxl resided. “This had better be where he is, or else...” warned Cammy. “It is, it is...” panicked the man, “He’s right through these doors...” “Good...” replied Cammy, letting go of his neck and putting her knife away, “... But if you call for help, I will kill a lot of you before you can kill me, so I suggest you stay quiet and let me speak to your emperor.” “Yes Ma’am...” shuddered the soldier, leaving the area in the hopes that he wouldn’t be blamed for whatever came of this. Iyaxxl was holding a meeting with his closer warriors, the ones that knew of his plans and accepted it, even some of the older faces were seeing things Iyaxxl’s way now. “... Your talents have far exceeded the rank of defender, Eddy Snare, I now offer you the chance to be promoted to Guardian of the Emperor, should you so choose. Remember that the risks involved could be more so, since there are some in this world, perhaps in this very empire that want to see me dead.” “I accept, Emperor Iyaxxl. It would be an honour to protect you.” answered Ed calmly. “And Morn, I’m not even surprised that your little slime pet failed, he is unique, but he’s still a failure.” added the emperor. “I promise Sir, the mission was not a complete failure.” offered Morn. “How so?...” “I’ve dispatched three former failures Sir, now improved by my intellect, and with them is someone we picked up that has extraordinary powers.” he explained. “Explain.” ordered Iyaxxl. “Through an accidental incident, the boy has gained the ability to manipulate metal, he can move anything made of metal around as if he were a psychic, and he can mould, crush and levitate it at will.” “Interesting. Just think of what he could do to those renegade robot Resistors. It had better prove useful...” Just then, the door was kicked open, and Cammy stepped through. Ed, taking his new job on immediately, stepped in front of Iyaxxl, who clicked his fingers so that the soldiers stood in the way of the female warrior, there was something about her that told him Ed’s career as a guardian might be short lived if he took on this woman. “Do these men mean so little to you that you’d throw them in my path?” she asked. “They have pledged allegiance to me through and through, they know the risks.” stated Iyaxxl. “I only wish to talk to you, I don’t have to kill them...” “Please try, or else They shall kill You...” said Iyaxxl calmly. Back in Matakos, Kirie slowly, but weakly, picked herself up, Lucia was groaning out in pain, and her body could be seen rippling, and denting inwards, the man-robot was crushing her, and with a power that could only affect machines. Kirie thought for a moment, scraped some material from the ground, and ran forward, with an angry grunt meant to draw attention. The enemy turned, and she hurled the material forward, the man-robot held out his free hand to stop it, but had no effect, the material was soil, and didn’t have metallic properties. The dirt sprayed across the Terror Trooper brand mask, and some of it fell through the eye holes. Lucia was dropped hard, and landed on top of a junk pile for now. “If its not metal, then you have no power over it.” stated Kirie. “Smart girl, aren’t you, I should have remembered that...” Meanwhile, Turok, Naga and Salvage had their hands full, Turok was dodging the claw swipes of Victor Snide, Naga was facing off against Dai, and Salvage, equipped with handy fighting gloves tried out against Banter. Dai was blasting away, sending out small mines that exploded vertically, shooting geysers of energy upwards, but no wider than the mines themselves. Naga, using her great agility, dodged around the spheres and closed in on Dai. Salvage proved to be quite a fighter, at least with his gloves on. Banter shot off several rockets at once, and Salvage recklessly punched forward, and a clear beam was unleashed, preventing the explosions from getting through to him, he then charged at Banter and slammed the gauntlet spikes into the sides of his head. “Ooh, real shocking...” mocked Banter. “You don’t know the half of it.” grinned Salvage, before a massive charge of electricity was unleashed, shocking Banter into a paralysing fallback. And Snide, with his new weapon, clawed at Turok, but to no avail, he’d learned lately about dodging a range of attacks, claws being one of them, ever since Krytus and Helena started taking him on. “You’re afraid! Hah ha hah! I love it, how I’ve missed this... And to think, you thought I could get over my cruelty to others.” laughed Snide openly. “You’re pathetic.” spat Turok, “You’re like a deranged child, always trying to be big in comparison to others, its worthless to harass everyone around you, cos soon they’ll all get tired of it, they’ll either abandon you, or face you, and when that happens...” “When that happens, I’ll kill them with this!” sniggered Snide, holding up his metal arm. “Good point.” stated Turok, realising how worthless the speech was, and firing a charged blast, it looked like the speech had a purpose after all, it bought some time. A high powered blue blast was fired from the energy cannon and towards Snide, at maximum strength due to Turok’s charging of it, but Snide reached out with his cyber hand, caught the energy blast, and crushed it into nothing. “No... Way...” said Turok in disbelief. “You’re not as big as you thought!” grinned Snide. The man-robot noted that Lucia was unconscious, and turned to Kirie, “Oh well, this is just how I wanted it, no need to get your allies involved just yet. The only thing they did wrong was accept you.” “They’re my friends...” spat Kirie. “Yeah right, as if someone like you could have friends...” insulted the man-robot. “You know me... Who are you?...” ordered Kirie. “Don’t worry, I’ll reveal that before I kill you...” he stated. “You’ll reveal it now!” shouted Kirie. The man-robot quickly outstretched a hand, and a pile of junk hovered above Kirie and dropped, burying all that was under it... “Hurts, don’t it? Close to what I’ve been through, but quite frankly, not-” “Enough!” finished Kirie, though it didn’t necessarily link to the opponent’s speech. She had teleported above him, and shot a thin psychic blade down on the enemy, slicing at him, but not fully as he had backed away from it. The mask was cut in two, and the man turned away from Kirie, before chuckling, and then laughing. “I guess it Is time for you to know who the mystery man is...” said the man, in his true and familiar voice. As he reached for one of the pieces to cover half his face, Kirie was panicking, worrying, and upset as the man’s voice, coupled with his turquoise hair, revealed his identity long before he turned around with only half his mask on. “Alan... No...” said Kirie in disbelief. “Uh huh, its me Kirie, your old ‘best friend’, you know, before your psychic psycho mother destroyed my home and forced my family into poverty.” “Why are you doing this?... Why now?...” ordered Kirie, but crying as she did so. “You took the easy way out of your problems by leaving your home, when I had to endure all of mine, I didn’t have a choice.” accused Alan. “But...” “And then you left the empire, and allowed them to think that destroying a village that you no longer live in will make any difference to you if its destroyed!” continued Alan. “Its not that at all Alan, I-” “I know about your little band of terrorists, you must fit in well, but its not them I’m angry at. Your group must have morals to protect a village that hates one of their own, they must have rules, and I’m pretty sure you failed to obey them when you left me to face Your enemies!” “I didn’t mean to, you drove me into it, you hurt me with your words...” justified Kirie. “And you hurt me without having to lift a finger, you see this mask? This half covers the scar I received in the following explosion of robots.” stated Alan. “But... that power... How did you get it? You allowed Morn to experiment on you, didn’t you?!” accused Kirie. “No, it wasn’t my choice, and it wasn’t Morn’s idea, something happened during that explosion, somehow the energy of those machines empowered by body, giving me these abilities. Morn just taught me how to focus them.” explained Alan confidently. “So, this is all for revenge? By killing me and my friends?” questioned Kirie. “No, the other guys will kill them, its not my problem unless your friends make it one, and this isn’t revenge. Well, not fully anyway. By defeating you, Vilem will be kept safe from the empire, I struck a deal with them.” Alan was now walking forward, outstretching his hands and making a whirlwind of debris circle around himself, but several of the pieces were flung away to hit Kirie occasionally. “They can’t be trusted! They’ve attacked places that none of my group come from, and without a good reason other than the desire to conquer it!” shouted out Kirie. Kirie shot a wave of psychic energy to push Alan back, but he retaliated by floating a metal sheet behind Kirie, and then wrapping it around her, preventing her from using her magic. “Do you think I’ll listen to anything you have to say? Your mother ruined my life. You... ruined my life. Your family is a curse upon my very being, but very soon... The curse will be lifted... Forever!...” To be continued...
