The Robots (Part 1): Written by Exodus, Original Story by Exodus

Two months since Kirie and Edwina left the empire, and the starting team of
Resistors were formed, and as a result, the empire had experienced further
losses, what with Gear’s strategic intellect, Ross’ strength and Edwina and
Kirie’s magic, which was slowly becoming easier to control, the four Resistors,
helped by a fair few trainee soldiers from landmarks that the empire had
destroyed, had defeated armies that were previously unstopped from their
missions.
Ruwin and his crew had been a big help too, without them, the Resistors wouldn’t
have known when or where the Evalon Empire would strike.

Some time ago, Iyaxxl gave an important speech to the new and old troopers, and
to the recent workers that joined up with the empire.

“And so, it is obvious that Kirie Jay was a pawn in the evil princess’ plan to
destroy this kingdom. If you ever see either of the two, consider them
dangerous terrorists and not as human beings. We are ever working to build the
perfect world, that won’t suffer from any problems, and we will succeed someday.
This, I swear.”
Roars of chanting and cheering filled the courtyard as everyone gazed at the
emperor, on the highest floor, the man chosen to sit on the throne and rule the
kingdom, ‘as Edward did’.
“Long live Emperor Iyaxxl!...”

Down below, a couple of individuals weren’t totally convinced, out of Kirie’s
friends, Angus was out of official business and had unfortunately taken in more
of the empire’s lies, he tried not to think about it and continued his work.
Turok and Lucia had only just heard, and were almost shocked.
“No... She couldn’t be... Kirie was a spy for the evil princess?...” asked
Lucia bewildered.
“Of course not, I’ll never believe that Lucia. But what can we do? Everyone
else believes that Kirie’s gone bad and I don’t think we’ll be able to convince
the empire otherwise... Besides... I never trusted a heap of people here,
perhaps Kirie had good reason to leave...”

Morn grew increasingly annoyed at the Resistors’ persistence, and was
unfortunately the one to tell Iyaxxl the bad news, he cautiously pushed the
doors open, Iyaxxl stared forward as if recognising the style of door opening,
and comparing it to the type of news that would follow.
“Morn! How are things in the army?” asked Iyaxxl with a tired expression.
“Some minor setbacks...” Morn said, and noticed Iyaxxl’s suspicious expression,
“Okay, you’re not going to believe this, but we’ve had no successes lately,
we’ve got ourselves a formidable enemy. They’re from the Resistance, that small
band of rebels I told you about, but these four kids are something else, they
call themselves The Resistors.”
“But they’re KIDS!” shouted Iyaxxl angrily.
“No, not just ordinary kids, one is the son of the late James Rook, he’s the one
that scarred Brutor, and another is the son of Doctor Gear, plus the princess
and Kirie Jay. They’re with them too. Its kind of funny really, that’s kind of
like the rumour you made up, only its come true. Ironic, huh?”
“I KNOW!” bellowed Iyaxxl, “I know... This is all your fault Morn. You let
those two get away, think of how their power could have been used, oh right, we
don’t have to, BECAUSE THEY’RE USING THEM ON OUR ARMIES!!!” shouted Iyaxxl,
losing control.
“But Sir, if you just let me finish my new project, I can create powerful
robots, powerful enough to crush these Resistors. All of them!”
Morn’s fanatical grin faded as Iyaxxl gave another fear-inducing stare, Morn
rethought his words, “Apart from Edwina, its her destiny to rule at your side as
your stepdaughter.”
“That’s better.”
“Perhaps you should just make the rumour easier to explain, that the princess
leads a band of terrorists that claim to be fighting evil but are really looking
to wipe us out and take over the world themselves, if you stress that they be
brought in alive, for enough money, someone in this fickle world will catch them
and turn them in, that is, if we don’t do it ourselves.” explained Morn, making
use of his devious mind in order to save his own skin.
“There is one minor detail though. There must be a human if I am to make the
perfect robotic soldier. I might be able to create a pure robot given some more
time, but we need to destroy the Resistors before any more of your plans are
ruined by them.”
“I don’t care who, we need to destroy the Resistors and seize Princess Edwina,
now Go...”

Outside, Krytus was standing close to the door and leaned in a relaxed stance.
“Oh Morn, Oi ‘eard what you’re doin’, now Oi wouldn’t trust you as far as Oi
could throw you, but Oi ‘ave someone in mind ta undertake yer test.”
Morn smiled, “Get him to my lab and I’ll put in a good word for you when this is
over.”

Turok and Lucia arrived back in the empire labs after their date in Vialon Town,
though the environment wasn’t as pleasant as it could have been, with troopers
occupying the city, and the remaining workers not pleased with the treachery of
some of its former citizens, but too afraid to do anything about it.
The two held hands as they walked through the dull metal halls and reached her
workroom.
“Same time in two days?” asked Turok in his gentle manner.
“I guess so.” replied Lucia, in an unconvincing tone.
“I’ll... see you later then.” said Turok, a little sadly as he walked away.

Lucia gave a half-hearted smile, and went back to work.

Turok put his hand in his pockets and felt something.
“Shoot! I totally forgot to give this to her.”
He produced a silver hairband, decorated by three triangular leaves located on
the sides and centre.
Holding it tight in his hands, he dashed back to Lucia.

Lucia couldn’t concentrate, she had too much on her mind.
“So... You’re just going to throw away two months with such a nice guy are
you?” she asked herself out loud, “You’re so selfish Lucia, just cos he isn’t
big and muscular, its not like he cheated on you, and he always stands up for
you... Why aren’t you satisfied.”
She turned around to Helena, who stood against the frame of the doorway.
“Not working again? What’s wrong this time, trouble with your man?”
Lucia sighed.
“Oh my god, its true. Turok really isn’t working out for ya.” grinned Helena,
“Its because he’s not big and strong.”
“Helena!” shouted Lucia.
“Oh come on Lucia, I’m a changed woman now but I remember our little private
discussions. If Turok’s not manly enough for ya, then you should dump him.”
“I don’t know...”
“Who are you trying to kid, Lucia? You can’t force yourself to love someone, its
best to call it off now before he becomes too attached to you.”
“Why are you trying to help me Sis?”
“I’m just looking out for ya, so its sorted, you must tell him its over the next
time you see him.”
“Okay...” said Lucia giving up, she didn’t even feel like Helena was stirring up
trouble, she always dreamed of her strong but caring guy, to be there to protect
her and their family, and Turok’s physique was all that didn’t match the
profile.
Helena left the room, as a rounded object fell to the floor and rolled to a
stop, Lucia noticed, and picked it up.

“Heh heh heh.” chuckled Helena, before reciting her intent in her mind, “Big
mistake Sis, you’re such a fool, your stupid desire is going to make you give up
the best thing that’s ever happened to you, and before you realise it, Turok
will be mine. This is the reason I brought you here, to watch me upstage you
and make you live in the lonely world that I did when you overshadowed me and
stole Mama and Papa’s attention...”

Lucia grasped the hairband and noticed some writing on the back.
“You and I forever...” she read, “What was I thinking?!... I can’t throw away
these two months, they’ve meant so much to me. Turok has a different kind of
strength, the strength of not fighting, but using what little strength he has to
protect... I can’t throw it all away because of a selfish childhood dream. I
have to tell him... that I’m ready to go steady with him...”
Lucia removed her old hairband and threw it in the bin, the words on that one
read “Happy birthday Sis.”
“Nice try Helena, but I don’t forget easily, you tried to steal Turok away from
me once, I won’t let you try it again.”
She put on the silver hairband, and left to find Turok.

Meanwhile, Turok stormed down the Evalon Fortress, “So now I’m not strong enough
for her? I gave everything to that girl, stood up for her, bought her meals,
gave her plenty of attention, and all that time she didn’t really want me. If
she couldn’t be truthful, then she should have just told me ‘No’, before I
became so attached to her.”
“Hey Baby.” said Helena flirtatiously as she leaned against the doorway,
blocking Turok’s path.
“Its so pathetic, isn’t it? Little Sis leading ya on like that, she doesn’t
appreciate such a strong man.”
“You know I overheard?”
“I saw you run off.”
“But-”
“Personally, I think it doesn’t matter how many muscles you have if you can’t
use them properly, or if you go around showing them off, you use whatever
strength you have when its necessary, I respect that.”
“Helena, you didn’t trick Lucia into saying those things, did you?”
“I asked her a question, and she answered truthfully...”
“Helena, wait, I-”
“I know I have a bad record, but we’re stuck here, we may as well do as we’re
told and get used to it, but its important to find pleasure in something.” she
said, edging closer towards him.
Suddenly she pushed Turok against the wall and pressed her lips against his,
Turok was shocked, but also hurt by Lucia, and so, didn’t make an immediate
attempt to stop it.
But he thought about Helena, and what she had done, she didn’t care about him,
she just wanted to make Lucia jealous, they were almost identical in appearance,
but Turok couldn’t see past the uncaring monster that lied inside Helena.
“Mmmphh, I, mph, No No No! Stop!” he said firmly, pushing Helena away.
“Don’t you want this? Lucia doesn’t want you, but don’t worry about the twin
thing, I’m much more understanding.”
“You don’t understand! You don’t know me well enough, I’m going to win Lucia
back.”
“Not after I tell her about what you just did.”
Turok’s eyes shot open, and he quickly grabbed Helena’s shoulders and pushed her
against the wall.
“No! You can’t!”
“Oh Turok...” giggled Helena a little sadistically, “I like this side of you.”
“Don’t you dare tell her, if you do...”
“You wouldn’t dare hurt me, if you did do anything, Lucia would never go out
with ya.”
Turok let go of the rage, and of Helena.
“Just leave me alone!...” he shouted, and walked away.
“You have some pent up rage inside you, we’re not too different, you and me, you
will be mine Turok.” whispered Helena.

Turok stormed towards the gym, “The only way I can fix this, is to avoid Lucia
until I get stronger, I’ll work out every day, the empire would look on it as
something productive. Its the only way to live up to Lucia’s needs.”
“Need a sparrin’ partner?” asked a sly voice.
“What do you want Krytus? I know all about you and Helena, but believe me, She
kissed Me.”
Krytus’ eyes narrowed in disgust, “Oh, you are So gonna pay fer stealin’ moi
gal.”
“Wait a minute, she’s not your- Agh!” shouted Turok as Morn’s assistants, Joe
and Moe, shot him from behind with stun blasters.
“You ‘umiliated me an’ won ‘elena’s affections without effort, Oi’ll tear apart
yer relationship fer that, you’re goin’ far away an’ you’ll leave Lucia behind
in this lonely world, but don’t worry, Oi’ll take care of ‘er, ‘owever long it
takes fer ‘elena ta get jealous an’ steal me away.”
“You creep...” groaned Turok, falling into a deep sleep, “You’ll never destroy
the love we had...”

He fell face first to the floor, but was already out of it and didn’t feel the
pain, the two guards took an arm and dragged Turok back to Morn’s lab.

Lucia ran into them while trying to make things right with Turok.
She gasped when she saw them, “Turok! What’s going on? Where are you taking
him?!”
Krytus smiled, “’e ‘as been plottin’ agains’ the great emperor, ‘e’s working fer
the rogue princess. ‘e must be punished!”
“Turok would never do such a thing!”
“Its always the one you least suspect.” he replied, “Now get out of the way
before Oi have you imprisoned!”

Lucia watched helplessly as Turok was dragged to Morn’s.
“Turok couldn’t be working for that dangerous woman, the times he wasn’t
working, he was with me, I always knew there was something screwy going on
within the empire and I’m going to get to the bottom of it!”

Krytus and the others arrived in Morn’s lab.
“Oi brought you the kid as Oi promised, ‘e spent too much time with ‘elena’s
sister ta be of use ta the empire. Jus’ remember ta tell the general public
that ‘e was workin’ fer the rogue princess, Oi love usin’ that rumour fer our
own needs.”
“So what good things should I tell Iyaxxl?”
“No need ta bother the emperor with false news, this was personal, but you could
put in a good word ta ‘elena about me...” smiled Krytus.
“Oh...” mused Morn, “So That’s what this is all about.”
Turok groaned, and realised the situation he was in, “You’ll never get away with
this you creeps! There was never a princess, all the recent chaos was caused by
you!”
“You’re partly right, there Is a rogue princess, but all the chaos was the
empire’s doing...” smiled Morn, “Too bad you’ll never tell anyone else...”

Soon enough, Turok was put inside a transparent cylinder, with four metal wires
wrapped around his limbs to prevent him from toppling it.
“What are you planning to do? Kill me?”
“That would be a waste of a defender, instead, I’m making you into something
extremely valuable. You will be the first of a new race of robotic warriors,
upgraded in every way, including that personality of yours. You’ll obey
everything I tell you, even if I were to send you to your home.”
“Leave Tanya and the others out of this! We had a deal!”
“Let’s see...” pondered Morn sarcastically, “No! Not only is your Haprin kingdom
one of many kingdoms we need to wipe out, but you neglected your duties to date
a scientist. The way I see it, you brought this on yourself. The last thought
you shall ever think, is that you could do nothing to stop yourself from
destroying the ones you loved.”
“You can’t!”
“I can do anything I want. And since it shall be you destroying Grautz, I think
that fairly nullifies any previous deals we had with you. Rolem and your silly
village are in the best location in which the empire’s forces can gather in
order to overrun the rest of Haprin.”
“No! I don’t care how you twist it, we had a deal!”
“And I don’t care.”
Morn hit a switch, and pulled specific levers in the room, a green light from
above shot into Turok, jolting his body around.
His blood started to boil a little, before changing into a thick black liquid.
His bones were transformed into strong wiring, and his skin changed into a
silver metal, before growing in size, and finally, gold bulky armour appeared on
Turok permanently, around his head, his chest, his lower legs, feet, and his
hands, one changed into a golden hand with silver claws, the other became a huge
gun with a bronze tip, this was the energy cannon that Morn had been testing for
some time, one that could be charged, and could fire huge blasts of pure
destructive energy.
“I can’t allow him to control my mind...” groaned Turok, his voice fast turning
into a dull, emotionless, robotic tone with an echo.
“I won’t destroy Tanya... I won’t! I will not- Aaarghhhh!!!”
The final touches were done, as the area around Turok’s eyes was covered by a
black screen, and then two red evil eyes appeared in the relevant places.

“You are Turok, a Mecha Knight made only to serve the Evalon Empire, you shall
only obey me. Your first mission is to destroy your home village of Grautz.
Snide will accompany you there, and then you shall obliterate everyone and burn
the village to the ground! Do you understand?” explained Morn.
Turok spoke in a calm, collected tone.
“Yes... Master. Destroy Grautz. Obliterate everyone. Burn the village to the
ground.”
Morn smiled, “Ha ha ha ha ha ha! YES!”

“No...” groaned Lucia, who had snuck into the ventilation system, she saw all of
Turok’s transformation, and was horrified at what Morn had done.

Later on, in Grautz territory, Snide had brought reinforcements, just in case
something went wrong.
“So its really you Turok, its ironic how you are going to be the one who
destroys the village, the only bad thing in all this is that I don’t get to
destroy the village myself. Now go.”
Turok didn’t turn to him, nor show emotion while he talked, he stepped forward,
and started to pick up speed, and was soon running down the hill, with an
expression less than friendly.
It was doubtful that anyone in the village could stop this machine...
