The Robots (Part 3): Written by Exodus, Original Story by Exodus Lucia plummeted fast, even though she was a machine, at the speed she was going, she would not survive the crash. “Stupid jet pack... Work!” screamed Lucia, but the remains of the detonator were jammed into the packs and caused them to be blocked. Lucia did the only thing that seemed right and ripped them out, but now there were holes in her jet pack that would really not help her. “Turok...” said Lucia sadly, and closed her eyes. Shortly before she came close to the ground, the rocket jets started to do their thing, and Lucia’s descent slowed down. “I’ll see you again Turok...” smiled Lucia happily, but the jets stopped for a moment, the holes were letting out the power needed to control the rockets. Lucia screamed, as she inadvertently dived into a mountain and crashed through, Lucia was left lying unconscious in a dark cavern... A lot later, light filled Mount Shard as the rocks from the entrance were pulled away. “Man, I’m beat.” sighed Ross, “But my new strength came through for us!” “Ahem.” frowned Turok, “I did just as much work as you did.” “Yeah, well, you’ve got two metal arms.” commented Ross. Ross, Turok, Kirie and Gear searched through the caverns for quite a while. “Gear, do you really think the empire would allow another robot to escape?” asked Kirie to Gear. “From what you’ve told me about Morn, probably, so- Hey, there it is!” replied Gear as they finally found the robot. Turok felt bad inside, seeing the robot roughed up and battered like this, knowing how each wound would affect him. “Gear, how bad is it?” he asked. “Give me a moment...” said Gear, finding a hatch on the back of the robot’s head that could be opened. “Accessing data...” noted Gear. A voice came out of the robot, but it was not by choice, as Gear had activated the damage report so that he could hear it. “Mecha Knight Registration M.R.002. Damage Report: Life systems to the head are compromised, jet pack additions are damaged and are not at full power. Any further interference may result in total shutdown of this unit.” “Its a risk, but I have to try...” It took quite a while, as Gear toyed around with the robot, fixing up some of her wounds with temporary metal covers, exploring her interior systems, and trying his best to reboot her without causing damage or memory loss. “Gear, I’m getting worried, isn’t it done yet?” asked Turok impatiently. “No Turok, I’m afraid it isn’t, you have to give me time.” “Its just... She’s like me, and I bet Morn forced her into it as well. She deserves a chance to choose her destiny, and not die thinking she was a freak.” “I understand, but- Oh shoot!” cried Gear. “You what?” “Shutdown sequence has been activated, this unit will shutdown indefinitely in 30 seconds, 29... 28...” said the computer voice. “Gear!” shouted Turok. “I’m fixing it!” he replied. “20... 19... 18...” “Come on Gear!” said Ross, “I know you can do it!” “Would everyone please shut up?!” screamed Gear, desperately doing what he could. “10... 9-” “Including you! If I can switch this cable here, and bypass that one there, I might be able to-” “2... 1... Shutdown sequence aborted. Mecha Knight M.R.002’s systems are restored.” “Alright Gear!” shouted Turok, slapping a hand against his back, which, due to his strength, hurt Gear a little. “Good job...” smiled Kirie. “Agh...” groaned Lucia, “What happened?... Oh, that’s right, I crashed. Who are you guys?” “Don’t worry, we’re friends.” said Gear softly. “Yeah, its going to be just fine, Miss.” said Turok, offering a hand. “Turok!” shouted Lucia. “Hey, how did you know my name?... Unless... Lucia?! Is that you?!” “Yes Turok...” Turok’s eyes looked surprised and happy, and close to crying tears of joy, as he grabbed Lucia and held her close to him, she hurt a little, but returned the hug. “What the heck happened?” asked Turok. “I couldn’t let them take you away from me. I saw everything, and while I was trying to destroy Morn for what he had done, I got mechanized myself. He said he would make sure I was obedient, but I guess my battle with Krytus damaged some of the necessary wiring, plus, my will to find you made sure I came out as myself.” she explained. “Lucia... I don’t know where to start... We have so much to talk about.” said Turok happily. “There’s no more time for talking...” said a mysterious echoing voice. “What?” questioned Turok. “Hahahahahahahahahah!” “Helena?!” screamed Lucia. “Yup, its me Sis, bigger and better than you are, even now!” Helena floated down with metallic wings to slow her descent. Her head was gold and dome-like, with a steel oval plated on with Helena’s evil face, two evil eyes, and a bright open mouth, both glowing yellow, and Helena had two fangs at the sides of her mouth. Also, there were a couple of red strips heading down diagonally on her cheeks, representing the scars from before. Her spiky outward hair came out of the dome and fell down, just like before. The rest of Helena was mainly gold armour on her hands, gun, chest and feet, with silver limbs, and yellow spiky shoulder pads and skirt, also, she had a yellow hatch on her stomach that looked like it could open up without harming her. Two silver spikes were at the sides of Helena’s gun, and she had two silver bird-like talons instead of feet. “If I jumped off a cliff, would you try to do that better than me?!” shouted Lucia. “No. That would be stupid.” answered Helena, “This is what I’ve always wanted, the perfect body, I am a living weapon.” “Why do you hate Lucia so much?!” shouted Turok. “She stole the attention of everyone.” answered Helena, “I never got the attention I needed, and then... Mama and Papa were gone, leaving me all alone in this world...” “You’ve still got me.” said Lucia softly. “NO!” screamed Helena, “I hate you! You did this! You made me what I am! You brought this on yourself, and You are finally going to pay!” The hatch opened up, and a silver football-like object fell into her hand, a bomb, that Helena quickly threw. “Look out!” yelled Turok, leaping on top of it, he made sure to cover the bomb with his body, a move that shot him backwards upon the bomb’s explosion. He was sent crashing into the cavern wall with extreme damage to his chest. Unfortunately, flames from the explosion caught onto the plantlife in the cavern, and soon along the oil trail all around the cave floor, something that Mount Shard was known for. “You people.” said Lucia decisively, “I want you to take Turok away from here, I’ll deal with my sister.” “But you’re hurt.” said Ross, “I can help, I’ve got metal all over my bones, and this arm.” Helena seemed to react to this, and raised her hand in front of her face, her three middle fingers stretched out to become a set of fighting claws. “It won’t make a difference if she tears up your flesh.” said Lucia, “Please, I can handle this. Just get Turok out of here so I don’t have to worry about him.” “Do it Ross, you might be out of their league.” said Gear, “Besides, Turok’s pretty heavy.” Ross sighed, and left the cavern. “So you think you’ll be a match for me? You should have let your new friends stay, it would have increased the time you had left to live.” With that, she raised her gun and shot a green blast at the area with the passageway, and rocks soon buried it. “You can’t run, can’t hide, can’t hope to succeed.” said Helena, before screaming out and jumping forward. Lucia replied in kind and leapt forward, but Helena raised her gun and blasted Lucia back, Helena drew out her claws and flung herself at Lucia, but she had managed to get her jet packs working, and took off, but Helena followed by summoning her wings. They both flew into the air, and past each other occasionally, always swinging their claws at each other but getting deflected. “You’re good, I overlooked your training...” said Helena. Lucia charged forward and slashed, but Helena had dodged to the side, and brought her hands down on Lucia, pounding her back down to the ground. “... But while you were programming things for Morn, I was out enhancing my fighting skills!” laughed Helena. Lucia growled and flew directly upwards, aiming her gun at Helena, but her hatch opened up again and a purple gas hit Lucia and clouded her screen. Lucia shot a lightning ball forward, but missed, she then swung her claws at Helena, but missed again. “What are you fighting for? Your boy toy? Well, he doesn’t love you anymore. Why else would he kiss me?” “He what?... No! You’re lying!” “Do I look it?” questioned Helena seriously, but concentrating on something, and then a flurry of sharp silver wires burst from her chest and hit Lucia, some tying around her, some piercing her limbs. Lucia screamed out, but Helena wasn’t done torturing her sister, and descended quickly, the wires took their toll on Lucia as they went deeper inside her upon impact with the ground. Helena landed safely and retracted the wires. “Not one hit, you obviously need more training.” grinned Helena, walking towards Lucia menacingly and slowly, “Its too bad you won’t have the opportunity.” “Why Helena?...” groaned Lucia, “Why did you choose to be the way you are?... Do you think anyone will love a heartless machine?... Not even Krytus would love you now...” “And why would I want that idiot?!” screamed Helena. “Because no one else will ever love you...” said Lucia seriously and firmly. “Shut up! I can make them love me!” shouted Helena. “You don’t understand what love is.” said Lucia, shaking her head slowly. “Love is a weakness! It can be used to get whatever you need. And once I’m done with you, I think I’ll kill those humans and hold onto your man until I’m totally satisfied. I seduced him once, I can do it again!” screamed Helena maniacally. “No... You’ll never get my Turok!” shouted Lucia, firing a fireball at the oil patch next to Helena, she quickly jumped to the side as it exploded, and then laughed. “What are you worried about? You don’t love him. Not too long ago, you were planning on letting him down because of one little flaw.” smiled Helena. “Maybe, but this experience has taught me to hold onto what you cherish most.” replied Lucia. “In one minute, you won’t be able to hold onto anything.” grinned Helena darkly. “Where are you Helena?... Have you truly lost your body to this monster?...” spoke Lucia gently, as if talking to a spirit rather than the robot in front of her. “Watch what you say!” she shouted. Helena leapt over Lucia, ready to come down on her, and with the little strength she had left, Lucia overcame the pain and raised her gun to fire. Helena fell back, cold shards scattering everywhere, Helena rebounded off the wall and dived towards Lucia, her wires flying about again. Lucia activated her jets, there wasn't much power left, but she had to finish this quickly and escape the cavern before the fire reached the large oil pools at the bottom of the cave. Lucia had her sight this time, and took every wire into consideration when she dodged. Finally she reached Helena, and stuck her claws through her hatch, cutting most of her snake-like wires apart, Lucia finished up by pulling on the pipes that supplied the gas from earlier, the pipes were stretched out and ripped apart, and gas now leaked out, Helena was in a lot of pain at this point. Lucia used the chance to slip behind Helena and slash across her wings, they tore apart and caused Helena to crash down. The damage to her chest left her wounded, and her damaged wings meant that she couldn’t fly. “No... Sister...” groaned Helena, breathing heavily, “Don’t... leave me...” “Helena...” groaned Lucia, turning back to Helena and offering a hand. “AH HA HA!” Another swarm of wires flew out, and Lucia’s hand was impaled. “Arrrgghhh!!!” She quickly pulled at it and broke that wire, but the others were chasing her down. “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!” laughed Helena maniacally, also firing green spheres towards Lucia. Lucia sighed, and flew down at Helena, avoiding the projectiles and still with the wires following her every turn, and at the last moment, she moved aside, and the wires tore into Helena’s chest, legs, hand and gun attachment, ripping off the gun arm totally and practically nailing Helena into the cavern wall. “It can’t be!” wailed Helena. “Helena... Its obviously that you died a long time ago, now you can finally rest.” said Lucia with closed eyes. Helena was speechless, and in a lot of pain. “See ya, wouldn’t wanna be ya.” said Lucia softly, and took off. Helena screamed out in anger, as the flames swept closer to her, and touched the gas. There was a huge explosion, and the fires from that found more oil to grow on. Lucia busted through the passageways with rockfalls, and punched right through them, though it wasn’t too good for her in her weakened state. The flames curled and swept around, just a step behind her, one wrong move or turn, and they would be all over her. “NO!” screamed Turok, as he woke up to the explosions all around the mountain. Ross tried to hold him back, but he swung his arm and sent Ross flying, before charging towards the mountain. Lucia came spiralling out as an explosion burst through the passage just after her, she crashed down hard, the battle had taken its toll on her, and she was bleeding a lot. “Lucia...” said Turok, putting out the small flames on her body, “You have to hold on, you just have to...” “Turok... I don’t know if I can... I’m sorry for my selfishness... I always loved you... It was a mistake to listen to Helena, and all of her lies...” “Lucia... She kissed me, at the empire, but I was hurt so much that I wasn’t thinking straight...” admitted Turok, he might never have the chance otherwise. “I understand... It was my fault anyway... And besides, Helena’s finished now... I’m sorry for my selfishness... You’re the greatest guy I could ask for, and... I always loved you...” With that, she collapsed, and Turok clung to her body and cried out for her. At the empire, Morn and Krytus were called by Iyaxxl. “Get in here, you two!” he screamed. Both walked into the room nervously like naughty schoolchildren. “Yes Sir...” they both said. “It has come to my attention Morn, that you allowed Helena to participate in your experiment.” said Iyaxxl. “Yes Sir...” he replied. “Where is she?...” asked Iyaxxl anxiously, but his tone was scary. “We... lost contact with her a little while ago...” said Morn with a nervous clenching of teeth “In other words...” frowned Iyaxxl, drumming his fingers against the throne. “I can only assume that she failed to kill both Mecha Knights, and died in action.” admitted Morn. “’ow could you let this ‘appen ta ‘er?!” screamed a shocked Krytus. “Yes Morn, why did this happen?! I thought those robots of yours were supposed to be better than humans!” added Iyaxxl. “They are, you know full well about that, but she was fighting other robots, so it was more of an even set-up, nothing to do with me...” explained Morn. “On the contrary! You let two powerful robots escape and go rogue on us, and then you failed to make Helena better than them! Do you realise what you’ve cost me?!” questioned Iyaxxl. “Yeah Morn, this is all your fault!” shouted Krytus. “I have something to say to you too Krytus, I know how you meddled in this project to win Helena’s heart.” explained Iyaxxl. “No, you don’t understand...” pleaded Krytus. “I understand perfectly! Because of your meddling, you created the robots that destroyed Helena! I’d kill you if you weren’t so valuable, and as for your punishment, I think the knowledge that you caused these events to happen will be punishment enough...” said Iyaxxl, seeming a little happier even after losing a valued ally. “Morn, don’t you ever build another Mecha Knight without permission from the person you wish to change, we can’t afford to make any more robots that would compromise all I’ve worked for, and even then, don’t make any more Mecha Knights until you are certain that they can beat the first two!” ordered the emperor. “Yes Sir, it will be done.” said Morn. “Now get out of my sight!” shouted Iyaxxl. The two left as quickly as they could. “Morn...” said Krytus, shortly after. “What, you want to be a Mecha Knight too? To avenge Helena’s death?” asked Morn. Morn was replied by Krytus’ claws being pointed at his face. “Oi don’t care what Oiyaxxl says, Oi blame you an’ the robots fer what ‘appened ta ‘elena, don’t you ever come near me again, if you do, Oi’ll kill you.” Krytus stormed off, and went to his room, where he let loose his anger, he destroyed all the furniture, screamed out in pain, and finally, broke down and cried. What started as simple lust changed dramatically for Krytus, for what it was worth, he loved Helena, and he would make sure that her killers knew what that meant. Days later in the Resistance Base, Turok woke up, the damage done to him had been repaired. He couldn’t believe what he saw, it was almost too good to be true that he had to clean his screen, but it was. Lucia was resting in the bed opposite him, she opened a pair of weary eyes that showed joy, since the rest of her facial features couldn’t be seen in her robot form. “Hiya honey... I made it...” “Lucia...” Turok dashed towards her and held onto her lovingly. “Not so tight! I’m still recovering...” she groaned, but put on a happy face. “It took everything I had, but the repairs were a total success.” said Gear, who had been in the room the whole time. “Oh Gear, I am truly in your debt.” thanked Turok. “Thank you...” added Lucia. “Lucia.” asked Gear, “I know this is a bad time to ask, but, what are you going to do now?” “This whole experience has taught me to hold onto what I hold dear... Whatever Turok decides to do, I’m coming along.” she explained. “And Turok? Its your choice, will you permanently use your power to help us against the empire?” “There’s nothing to think about Gear, the Evalon Empire destroyed the royal family, took us from our villages, lied to us, and made Lucia and I what we are. Life’s going to be hard living as we are...” explained Turok. “But we’re together, that’s all that matters...” added Lucia. “You know, with enough research, there might be a way to reverse the mechanization, I can’t promise anything soon, but maybe someday...” explained Gear. “In the meantime, its our responsibility to teach the Evalon Empire a lesson.” said Turok confidently. “Thank you.” said Gear, “We really appreciate your help.” “No Gear.” said Lucia, “Thank You. For making this all possible.” But, deep in the remains of Mount Shard, rain poured into the newly made holes all around the mountain, a damaged figure missing an arm and a leg, and with a huge hole in its chest, crawled out from a pile of rocks weakly. “I don’t believe it... I survived...” said Helena, before laughing maniacally, “Its not over Lucia, I’m gonna find a way to fix myself up, and when I do-” “You are alive, only because I made it so...” said a dark low pitched voice that echoed throughout the cavern, the source was from a couple of flames, side by side, hidden in the darkness. “Who are you?!” questioned Helena. “That isn’t important right now, come with me, and we shall reign destruction upon the land.” “No...” argued Helena, “Getting even with Lucia is my first priority.” “And you shall, but only if you follow me.” “Mister... You’ve got yourself a deal...” End?... Back to Part 2 Click to read the next story: "The Huntress” Back to “Past Heroes and New Beginnings” Back to the Library
