Lonely, lost, hopeless, Emma Mervington is a twenty-something young woman at the end of her rope. In her darkest hour, with all things good in her world seemingly gone, her life is transformed. The intervention of Jesse Christensen saves her life and his community gives her a purpose again. Committing herself to helping others as he did for her, she quickly becomes Jesse's close friend, and then his lover. It soon becomes apparent however, that she is the target of another power, for a secret she keeps, a secret she might yet be unaware of. The revelation of a hidden heritage intensifies her pursuer's mission. In the end, there may be only two things that can save her life, the life of her beloved Jesse and the world: love or sacrifice.
