The Story: I've been a Verve Pipe fan for quite a few years now but had never had a chance to see them live. I'm originally from Northern Indiana/Southern Michigan, close to where The Verve Pipe are also from, and visit my family up there on holidays. A few days before my trip home for Thanksgiving, my Dad called to tell me that he'd gotten me tickets to a free show the band was putting on at The State Theater in Kalamazoo. Needless to say, I was very excited. I went with my best friend and two brothers and we were all very impressed with the show the TVP boys (not to mention the very cool band Molly, who opened) put on. Afterwards, my brother and I were thrilled to be able to meet (okay, gush to, smille at and move on) the very friendly and cool band members, as well as getting their autographs.
Now the autographs probably need a little explanation...As we were getting out of the car, ready to head to the State Theater for the show, I realized that I hadn't brought anything with me to have the guys sign, in case I was able to score an autograph. I was desperately rumaging through the car when I came across a book of expired coupons in the glove compartment. It was a little unusual, but a figured it would work better than an old reciept or napkin, and might make a good story. Well, it ended up being a pretty cool idea. Each band member got to pick the coupon they wanted to sign, and I even got a few drawings and comments to go with thm. If I was into Freud, I might say that their choices revealed something about their personality, but mostly I just thought they were funny choices, and it made the autographs much more unique than just a plain old piece of paper. |
