CMEA Band Festival

Bring:
- This itinerary
- Instrument,
equipment (Percussion - see separate list), and Accessories (tuning
rods, mutes, reeds, neck straps, valve oil, slide cream, spray bottle,
mouthpiece, screwdriver set)
- Music – Concert
Band – Repercussions, Dorian Rhapsody, March to the Scaffold
- Music – Symphonic
Band – Flight of the Piasa, Shenandoah, March of the Belgian
Paratroopers
- Water bottle
- Wear your Concert
attire (white top, black bottom, black socks, black dress shoes,
tie/cummerbund, (coat optional))
- $3 for medals
(optional), money for snacks (optional)
- Lunch - bring it.
Due to recent criminal activity (attempted kidnappings) in the area,
you will not be allowed off campus. If you have a parent who
would like to pick up food for you, then have them bring it to you, in
time for lunch.
- Your CMEA Concert
Evaluation form(s), so that you may complete your assignment.
- We will need
designated percussion helpers from each group, to ensure that we take
all of our equipment from place to place. This is mandatory for
percussionists from both groups, to help each other out.
8:45 A.M. Band Room Open. If you need music,
last-minute instrument maintenance, now is the time.
9:00 Percussionists arrive to sort/load percussion
instruments/equipment
9:25 Meet at American High School. Be on time!!!!
(-20 points for lateness)
9:30 Load vehicles and leave for Irvington HS (Left
on Fremont Blvd., Right on Thornton Ave., Left on Blacow Rd., go past
Grimmer Blvd., end at 41800 Blacow Rd.)
9:50 Arrive at Irvington HS. Mr. Wong checks in both
groups.
9:55 Concert Band and (percussion) helpers unload
vehicles and go to warm up room. Do not enter the room, as another band
will be there.
10:20 Concert Band warms up (We may need some helpers
from Symphonic Band to move equipment. The rest of the Symphonic Band
will go to the Theatre, sit in the audience, and watch other groups
perform. Remember to be a good, respectful, audience.)
10:45 Concert Band
performs
11:10 Concert Band clinic
11:35 Pictures. Symphonic Band is required to watch
Amador Valley HS Symphonic Band.
12:00 P.M. Lunch. You are limited to the campus. Your
best option will be to bring your own lunch.
1:00 Symphonic Band and (percussion) helpers unload
vehicles and go to warm up room.
1:15 Symphonic Band warms up (We may need some
helpers from Concert Band to move equipment. The rest of the Concert
Band will go to the audience and watch other groups perform. Remember
to be a good, respectful, audience.)
1:40 Symphonic Band
performs
2:05 Symphonic Band sightreads music.
2:30 Pictures. Concert Band watches Irvington HS 9th
grade Symphonic Band.
2:45 Load and leave. You are welcome to stay and
watch the remaining bands.
3:00 Arrive at AHS. Unload & leave quickly. Leave
the building within half an hour of our return, or you will be put to
work (spring cleaning…)
- You are required to
listen to at least 2 other groups and fill out evaluation forms for
them (due Monday). You may evaluate the American group that you are not
performing in as one of your evaluations.
- I strongly
encourage you to listen to other groups and support each other in your
performances. You can stay on Saturday, or go on Friday evening to hear
other groups. If you would like extra credit, fill out more evaluations
(than the required 2).
- Remember to be on
your best behavior.
- Leave the site as
you found it. Put trash in the trashcans.
In an effort to increase communication with all families of the music
program, we are asking parents/guardians to sign and return the bottom
portion of each sheet sent home.
