DB2
Rick has been working with DB2 since 1984. Rick has written COBOL and PL/I programs using the
DB2 database. He has used DB2 with CICS and IMS DC terminal monitors. Rick has written QMF
procedures to create quick reports. Rick has a strong knowledge of SQL and DB2 access tools
such as Platinum, Pro-Edit, and File-Aid DB2. Rick has also gained experience in relation data
modeling using the IEF (CoolGen) tool.
Oracle
Rick has written oracle programs in COBOL and C language for mainframe and UNIX platforms. Rick
help develop the atomic data level of a data warehouse system. He has written some oracle
procedures for the data warehouse system. Rick has written several programs using Micro Focus
COBOL to process railroad engineering data. He has also used the program generator Program
Warehouse Manager (PWM) to develop many Oracle COBOL programs. Rick has used SQL to develop
adhoc queries for procedures and source language programs.
IMS
Rick's IMS experience started in 1979 with some small batch DL/I programs. Rick has used IMS in
conjunction with CICS and IMS DC. He has written programs containing both IMS and DB2 databases in
the same program. Rick has written both MPP and batch programs. He has been involved in the
design and development of several medium to large IMS databases. Rick has worked with secondary
indexes and logical relationships. Rick has written an IMS task to interface with a CICS travel
management system through an ISC (Inter-System Communication) link.
System 2000
The System 2000 database experience dates from 1982 until 1986. Rick has written on-line programs
using CICS and ISPF Dialog Manager terminal monitors. This database is a hierarchical database
with a built in query language. Rick has experience with System 2000 database on both IBM and CDC
mainframe computers.
VSAM
Rick has developed programs in COBOL, PL/I, VSBASIC, and ALC. He has written programs in all
three types of VSAM file organizations. Most of his experience is with KSDS files. He has
written programs using multiple indexes. Rick has used VSAM in conjunction with CICS and ISPF
dialog manager. Rick has managed VSAM space requirements using the IDCAMS utility.
