Mainframe Operating Systems
Summary
Rick has worked on the IBM mainframe since 1977. Most of his experience is on the various
versions of MVS JES operating system including JES2, JES3, XA, and ESA. Rick has worked
with MVS JCL to run test and production jobs.
Rick has two years experience working on a DOS VSE operating system which ran on an
IBM 43xx computer. Some limited exposure to DOS VSE JCL was acquired while working on the
McDonnell Douglas Engineering Management Control system (EMCS). The EMCS system was a PL/I
system using IMS to store the data and CICS to manage the screen processing. This system had a
dedicated IBM 43xx computer to do the processing.
