Since the launching of this page in 1997, I've received quite a bit of traffic. That surprised me for the first bit, but I've gotten used to it by now... Along with all this traffic, I've received several emails. Usually they request information about SweeTARTS that only diehard fans know; others just thank me for doing them a great honor by puting this page on the web. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, listed below are a few examples of the correspondance I've received:

I have been e-mailing sunline to get them to change the flavor of green from lime to watermelon, there just awful! I also hate the lemon, may they rest in peace. I'm also trying to get sunline to give me some info on where to get a SweeTARTS t-shirt. They wont write me back! We should start a crusade to get the yellow and green flavors changed!Debra A. I, too, am obsessed with these, but only the ones in the 9 oz bags that are hearts at Valentines and eggs at easter. They are very hard, and powderly, and very very sour. All year I wait for valantines to get more. Today they came into the store I shop at! I bought 10 bags and have now discovered --- they changed the recipe!! This year they are mottled in color, far too 'fruity', and not hard enough, nor tart enough. Any ideas of how & where to get the original versions?Chuck Wilson & Justin Goodman wrote
Hi. We're so glad there is actually a SweeTARTS web-page. I'm 36 years old and have been a SweeTARTS freak all my life. My nephew, Justin, age 11, is here with me and he's becoming a SweeTARTS freak, something I'm very proud of. Our favorite kind is not the roll but the big blue box that is hard to find. These are similar to the little box that some (but not enough) movie theaters sell but the tarts are a little bigger, I think. The blue boxes are hard to find but lately, a lot of the 7-Elevens here in L.A. have started carrying them. They don't keep them on the main candy aisle, they're usually on an endcap display. I've been trying to stock up! I'd send you a picture of the blue box for your site but I don't have the equipment here for that. Anyway, congrats on the site and I hope Sunline is sending you free product.Cathy A. Chun wrote:
(note from Britney: no, Sunline is not sending me free product! I wish they were, though.)
Has there always been a blue SweeTART? There's a heated debate going on at work.I wrote:
To the best of my knowledge, there has always been a blue SweeTART. Granted, I've lived only sixteen years, so they could have added it before I was born. A few reasons lead me to believe there has always been a blue SweeTART. For one, the wrapper has blue letters on it. Most candy wrappers follow the colors of their candies when creating the packaging. Also, I've done a little bit of research on them, and no where have I ever seen a package without blues.Cathy wrote:
Thanks for your response. I agree. I'm sure there has always been a blue sweet tart, and I have lived on this earth twice as long as you have. Unfortunately, the opposing party - who will remain unnamed - will only be swayed from an official source at Nestle. (Nestle now owns SweeTARTS so you might want to update your web page.) But I was pretty psyched to get your email validating my position.Patrick wrote:
I have to say your SweeTARTS site rocks! I'm 32 and I've been a SweeTARTS fan since I was five. In fact, my first introduction to SweeTARTS was the kind you get at Halloween, the little packets with three small SweeTARTS in them. Some had just the "S" on them and some said "bite 'em" on them. Keep the faith!Scott P. Millikan wrote:
I have worked for Sunline for 17 years. Now the sunline name is gone but SweeTARTS do live on with the Nestle name.A couple of comments for you...
Blue or tropical punch SweeTARTS were introduced in the mid to late 80's. It was my understanding that in kid tests they were a big hit so the company went with them.SweeTARTS Gum is a dead item. Guess it was too hard to make. I thought they were good. But it took a bunch to get a decent sized piece of gum going.
If you have any questions about SweeTARTS just email me at twinkie@primary.net
There has absolutely NOT always been a blue SweeTARTS!!! Those were added to the bunch sometime in the nineties. Shocking to me that such devoted fans wouldn't already know this. I suppose I remember so well because I dislike them so much that I actually give them away. This is something I would never do with a SweeTART! P.S. When someone writes suggesting a campaign to get rid of certain colors, please remind them that those colors happen to be the favorite of others. I would be devastated if one day I opened up my roll to find my favorite yellow and green SweeTARTS missing!
Actually, I remember working as a lifeguard in the summer of 1990 and opening a roll and almost falling out of my chair when I saw a blue SweeTART. I then looked at the wrapper and it had a slanted little label that said *New flavor!*. Back then, though, they weren't as advanced--the blue was much more dusty and definitely overpowered the flavor of whatever was next to it in the pack. But the blue was 'born' about nine years ago or so, as far as I can remember.
There used to be a package of SweeTART that carried only three candies, pink, yellow, blue and were kind of big do they still sell those?? I haven't seen them in years and thought they stopped making them but someone told me they still sell them, do you know??? live in Ohio
Have you ever seen or heard of the Giant SweeTART? They were/are the same size as the chewy SweeTART (which I agree are horrible) but they are the consistency of the small SweeTART sold in the rolls. There were only 2 per package and they only came in pink and purple (one of each per package). I hate to admit that the last time I remember seeing them was around the time the chewy SweeTARTcame out (maybe 20 + years ago). Let me know if you've heard of them. I saw on the Candy Direct site a Giant SweeTART, but since there is no description, I'm not sure they're what I'm looking for and my e-mail to them has gone unanswered. Thanks a lot.
I accidentally found your web page. Of course, since I love SweeTARTS and was eating some just then, I decided to peek at your page. How cool! I've been eating SweeTART for over 30 years. Yikes! I am 40 years old and I have always loved them. I do not care for the chewy ones, though. An adulteration of a great thing, in my mind. I used to love the large SweeTARTS but I haven't found those in a long time. I've seen large chewy ones, but not the others. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know that the obsession never stops as you get older. Enjoy! St.Louis, MO
Do you know if any stores sell the bags of individually wrapped sweetarts that come wrapped 3 in a pack? I can usually only find them at Halloween time, but this year I couldn't find them anywhere. If you know of any stores that sell them like that all year round, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what store. By the way, I also think SweeTARTS are completely addicting and they are the best candy in the world!! I would really appreciate it if you could help me out with where to find the bags of individually wrapped ones though. Thanks in advance.
I found a different type of SweeTART at Walgreen's in Tampa, Florida. It is in a roll, is made by Nestle, and is much more tart than any other I have tasted. I also noticed that when I compare the package to others that the colors are reversed. They are slightly larger in diameter and thicker that the tarts that come in the envelopes or theatre box. The Sweet is in red and the TART is blue. Both sides of the candy say sweetart around the raised edge while across the recessed center is "Bite Em". It does not have the large single "S" as on the ones from the boxes or 3 tablet envelopes. These are tha best ones I have ever tasted.I am not addicted to SweeTARTS. I only consume one 15oz package a week. I am not addicted to SweeTARTS, I am not addicted to SweeTARTS.
I have also purchased bags of small rolls of SweeTARTS. They are about.5" in diameter and have ten or 12 to a roll. They are not as tart and taste more like smarties.
I have also noticed that some packages are made by Sunline Brands (A division of SunMark), others are made by Nestle and still others have both labels. I know that Nestle bought Sunline and closed some of their plants. I wonder the the TART rolls of SweeTARTS is an older package or if it is a newer one. If you have the answer, please let me know.
I'm amazed I've not found this site before - I thought I was just a bit mental! For the last five years I've been looking for SweeTARTS sparkle trees - the christmas candy. I checked in every drug store, walmart, and big lots I could find this year and came up with bupkus - nothing. So I look in the stocking my mother-in-law sent me, and poof! I immediately called her and asked her to buy the rest of the store out - hopefully she got there in time, but I don't know yet...
My favorite SweeTART is actually the original "Frosted Trees". They had a powdering of citric acid on them that just ripped your mouth, but was wonderful!
If you or any of your other fans knows where I can get either of these christmas candies, I'd love an email. Or if they can get them and send them to me, I'd be happy to reimburse them plus a finders fee (not huge- I'm still working for a living).
Thanks and happy SweeTARTS to everyone!
(note from Britney: thanks to Shannon for sending me images of the Sparkle SweeTARTS and Christmas stuffers!)
Great site and I am glad to find there are others with similar addictions. I wish my SweeTARTS craving was not quite so habitual or obsessive. I am 33 years old and have been eating SweeTARTS for as long as I can remember. My Mom claims that my Aunt worked at Sunline foods and used to bring SweeTARTS home to me when I was very young. I keep a large bowl filled with SweeTARTS in my house all the time. There is only one catch, or personal dysfunction if you like. I have a SweeTART pecking order. (As an aside, like another patron wrote, I am not pushing for the removal of any color. However, one has to wonder why Sunline went out of business. Was it the blues?) No offense Britney, but blues are at the bottom of my list. They could almost be Sprees they are so low. I am also not a big fan of greens, sorry again Britney. So yes, you guessed it, when the bowl is empty I sit down and pick out all the greens and blues from a new batch and put in the pink, purple, orange and yellow. That's right I won't even let the blues and greens touch my delightfully flavored colors.I also know that sunline use to put in a disproportionate number of blues in the rolls. Ok, fine I have sorted and counted them, the obsession continues. So this really chapped me, because from a single roll I only got to eat about half. One year I collected all the blues and greens in a box and was planning to mail them to Sunline and then they went out of business. The eggs and hearts are the best since they don't contain blues and only require removing the greens. One person mentioned buying ten bags of the hearts. I buy every bag in the store, no lie.
A couple of weeks ago I discovered the giant SweeTARTS that change color in your mouth. Who cares about the spaceshuttle, gene-therapy, 1 GB processors, and other technology...... there are giant SweeTARTS that can change from yellow to red in your mouth. Too bad they don't have a Nobel Prize for Candy.
Hi! While looking for an official SweeTARTS site, I came across yours. By the way, I couldn't access the link you had for Sunline. Someone who wrote to you (and it's on your site) that SweeTARTS are owned by Nestle now, but I couldn't find anything about them on that site either. Is there an official SweeTARTS site or not? Anyway, here's what I wanted to share with someone...I bought a bag of SweeTARTS hearts and only two of them (and it was a large bag) had--instead of "be mine", "I'm yours", "yes", or whatever-- had "Y.com" (if you don't have the Webdings font installed, that might look like "Y.com", but it's supposed to be "heart symbol.com") on them. Have you ever seen this? I thought maybe I'd won something but I threw the bag away and then I found the second one and knew I hadn't won. But why only a couple of those in the whole bag? There were probably 100 "I'm yours" alone! ;-)

In the early 1980's, near Valentines Day, there use to be a heart shaped SweeTART sold in individual wrappers. It was a hard SweeTART, not chewy and I always thought is was a Sweetheart brand item. However, they were my favorite and I haven't seen them in the stores since about 1983-1984.Did you see them back in the early 1980's? And do you know who made them or if they still make them somewhere?
Years ago I use to buy a giant SweeTART it was packed one to a package. I have since seen some that are the same circumference but half the width. I was wondering if these are still available. They were about 2 inches thick...
my boyfriend and i are SweeTARTS fanatics. we both enjoy the easter SweeTARTS that come in the shapes of chicks, ducks, and bunnies. on the outside of the bags of SweeTARTS, they show a blue duck. however, i have never come across a blue SweeTART..so i am beginning to wonder if they even exist.
