Brooke vs. Cadence

Cadence sits down on a rock near the edge of the water and pulls out an old book. Flipping through the pages, he looks intently for a picture that would suggest he's on the page he wants to find. Finally finding what he's looking for, he begins to read to himself. Suddenly a large angry, cartoonish looking wolf comes bounding down the path calling out, "I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!" For some reason he seems to think that Brooke is a potentially baconic little pig. He runs after her growling and baring his fangs, trying to make her his breakfast.

Brooke sighs and shakes her head, clicking her tongue in disappointment, "This simply won't do. You simply will not do. You can't eat me. I should eat you..." She lifts her hands into the air, twiddle her fingers slightly, a serene smile never leaving her face. The water below instantly boils, steam rising over the bridge. She quickly crosses her hands, the boiling hot water spraying up towards the wolf, cooking it alive. Brooke tilts her head and drops her arms parallel to the ground, sending the boiling canine towards Cadence, still howling from pain.

Cadence yelps in surprise and slams the book shut, watching the wolf disappear as it returns to imagination. As quickly as the little green man reacts, it doesn't keep him from getting a few boiling drips of water on his yellow, polka dotted shirt. Pulling out his magic purple crayon he quickly draws an ice cube and sets it down on his sleeve and shoulder, cooling off his shirt. Then he draws a little book with teeth and sets it down on the ground. It scurries quickly off toward Brooke, wanting to eat her shoes. Drawing as quickly as he can, Cadence draws a little boy with sleek blonde hair and a wand, along with two large boys to follow him. The three then run after the book laughing, the first boy waving his wand at Brooke threateningly and shouting curses. Meanwhile, a very large, bushy orange cat appears, running after a rat that happens to think Brooke would make a good hiding spot. Cadence gets tired and puts his crayon back in his pocket and sits down to watch the little scene he has created.

Brooke now loses her smile somewhat, settling it into a smirk. With her uncanny control of all things liquid, she lifts a finger and flings it upward, sending the ice cube in every which direction, hitting him in the face teasingly. Her smirk is totally lost when she sets her eyes on the many creative foes on the battlefield. She lets the little book with teeth bite into her. She slightly winces but knows she could recuperate later; the books biding at pages soaking and turning the book equivalent to a wet, biting flopping fish. Brooke then takes the little rat and tosses it over the edge, the cat instinctively following. She catches both the rat and the mouse separately in two fountains of water, saving them for just the right time. As the three boys approach, Brooke tosses the mouse into the middle of the three magical hooligans, turning into a cloudy and quite painful looking brawl. Still, the boy with the wand manages to cast something, and a red zap of lighting shoots from his wand. The force hits Brooke, sending her into a scream, for now she carried a red tide, a disgusting bacterial cluster that kills any creature swimming in its waves. First, she gathers as much moisture and water from the air and the river, making her appear fat and plump. Then, she quickly dispels the tide by releasing her excrement in her own way, out of her head, arching it to Cadence, resembling a waterfall to the receiving party. She sighs putting a hand to her head, a headache starting to form.

Cadence scratches his head as he begins to suspect that Brooke will use her defense as a big flooding type attack. He remembers hearing a story once about a canoe and it surviving through all sorts of watery horrors. Knowing that this story isn't in his book, he sets his mind to the task of remembering what the canoe looked like to the best of his ability. Closing his eyes he concentrates as hard as he can, and when he opens them, he finds himself sitting in a very nicely crafted little canoe. As he expected, a wall of water comes flying at him only a few minutes later. The canoe follows the flow of water, taking Cadence wherever Brooke sends her waterfall. In the meantime, he flips a few pages and grins as he gets an idea. For a moment it seems like nothing will happen other than the little green mage being washed away, but then a large white whale swims up, intent on biting off one of Brooke's limbs.

Brooke now, as the bacteria multiply inside her continues to become more and more red, Brooke becoming more and more ill. To one’s surprise she jumps totally into the whales mouth, the marine mammal, plunging into the depths of the lake, hitting the water at the same time as Cadence and his canoe. The whale swims around, surfacing for air, blowing mist out of its blowhole. The mist in the air suddenly collects together forming the sleek body of Brooke once more, rejuvenated, her ivory skin and slight blue tint back to normal. The whale however goes into a fit, becoming ill from the malicious red tide that Brooke filtered using the whale. The whale leaps out of the water into the air, right over Cadence’s canoe, promptly dying in the air. Brooke begins ascending towards Cadence ready to attack, but sees that her brief friend took care of that for her as a parting gift. She smiles dropping into the water with absolutely no splash, assimilating into its contents. One can hear a laugh echo from every single square inch of the river.

Cadence squeals like a schoolgirl as he sees his whale die midair directly above him. Once again he slams the book shut to help him retrieve the whale from reality and return it to its story. Unfortunately, Cadence's lack of control over his brilliant new specialty leaves him canoeless in the slowly receding waters. Pulling out his crayon again he draws a big floaty rubber duck and sits on top of it, keeping himself safe and on top of the water until the river returns to its normal size.
