Gemini vs. Cadence

Cadence pulls two sticks out of his messy purple hair. Beating the sticks together a few times in the rhythm of a heartbeat, Cadence leaves them beating in mid-air.. Grinning, Cadence raises his hands toward Gemini. Slowly, Gemini's heart matches the beat of Cadence's drumsticks. Returning to the sticks, Cadence takes over and gradually slows the beat down, reducing Gemini's heartbeat. If nothing is done soon, Gemini's heart will no longer pump any blood at all.

Gemini grips his chest in shock, feeling the pulse of his heart dropping rapidly. Overcoming the initial fear of the duel, Gemini realizes that he must do something fast before his heart stops! With all the strength and will he can muster, Gemini moves his hands from his chest to extend upwards towards the heavens. With a struggled breath he whispers a terse word that you cannot make out, and almost immediately a blasting light signals a shooting star blasting from the sky. Cadence breaks his concentration and hold over Gemini as he leaps to avoid the shooting star, and the falling blast of fiery star obliterates the hovering drumsticks. Gemini takes gasping breaths as his heartbeat returns to normal. Gemini, realizing that it is his turn to attack, decides that the best defense is a good offense. He again raises his arms to the sky, only this time his whisperings continue even after you hear a faint rumbling in the sky. Gemini goes into a trance, repeating the incantation over and over again, and your stomach sinks as you realize what is about to happen. A shooting star pelts the ground to your left, and then to your right, and as you look up you see that shooting stars are falling from the sky at light speed, one in front, one behind, and if you don't do something quickly the one of the millions of shooting stars threatens to destroy you.

Cadence jumps back and forth, avoiding the pretty, but deadly balls of fire. Dashing under a tree, Cadence buys himself a few moments before he meets a burnt and crispy end. Grumbling, he pulls two more sticks from his hair and pounds them down onto the quickly warming earth. Loud creaks and groans can be heard from the center of Kuri. Struggling to stay standing, you are overcome with a sense of dizziness. Something is wrong with the planet. After a moment you realize what Cadence has done. Kuri has stopped spinning. Gravity no longer works. The stars stop falling and drift slowly through the dark sky. The stars, however, are not the only thing drifting. Gemini finds himself afloat in the air, with no gravity to direct him. Cadence grins and snaps his fingers. The no-longer-falling stars dance throughout the sky. Waving his hands, Cadence reverses Gemini's attack. Each burning star dances toward Gemini, spiraling in, threatening to roast the floating Gemini.

Gemini 's eyes widen, perplexed to see his own beloved stars flying at him. As he drifts aimlessly through the sky, Gemini twists and turns to right his body so that he is facing the oncoming stars and the sky. Reciting an ancient prayer for luck and concentration, Gemini attempts a mastery of the stars such as he has never attempted before. He reaches deep within himself, feeling his magic welling up so that his mind becomes numb with the focused magical energy. Gemini concentrates on extending the pent up energy through his arm to his hand and out through his fingertips. Screaming loudly as the force of channeling raw magic bursts inside Gemini, he directs his hands at the onslaught of celestial bodies and commands them to stop. The stars continue to fly at Gemini, though their speed visibly reduces, and moments before the stars collide with and incinerate Gemini they stop in midair, so that you gasp at the odd beauty of the ethereal scene. You draw your breath, wondering what Gemini will do next, and he looks strained as he struggles to hold the stars in place. Gemini turns his hand palm upward and draws it toward himself, and in reaction the stars that have stopped merely yards away from him begin to surround him. You can no longer see Gemini because of the stars enveloping him like a vortex of flaming energy. Then, you blink. Is it your imagination, or has the force field of stars begun to rotate. You rub your eyes, but sure enough, the stars have begun to spin. The stars spin fast and faster and begin to form a funnel, and on the inside of the colossal starnado Gemini spins around like a top. Arms extended, Gemini commands the tornado to bring him back to the earth, and as it drops him from the eye of the storm onto the ground, he commands the whirlwind of stars to attack Cadence. Turning to run, Cadence cannot race the aggressing stars, and he is swept up in the wind and force created by the spinning stars. Cadence flies off his feet and is swept into the middle of the tornado. Spinning around so that he cannot control himself, Cadence loses control of his senses and his magic. He barely realizes that the tornado is spinning in one place now, and it is getting smaller. Smaller and smaller the tornado of stars compacts itself, and it threatens to crush Cadence in its midst.

Cadence struggles to retain consciousness as he spins out of control. Somewhere deep inside him, he remembers an old magic that will help him. Gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, Cadence recites a long forgotten prayer. The strange words flow from his mouth with barely any conscious thought. A loud crash cuts through the silent air as Cadence suddenly stops spinning. All around him, fiery flashes spin too fast to be seen as stars. Clapping his hands, Cadence starts a new rhythm. A rhythm that will turn the stars around. Slowly, the tornado calms its wild fury. For a brief portion of a second, the stars stand still before they begin spinning the other way. As the spinning increases, the tornado spreads out again, giving Cadence much more room to breathe. With a snap of his fingers and a flick of his wrists, Cadence sends the tornado whirling through space until it explodes and leaves all the stars twinkling where they belong. Kuri groans and creaks some more as she once again begins to spin. Unfortunately, layers of burning rocks have been upset by the commotion. The ground begins to quake and crack open as large streams of lava pulse out from the depths of Kuri. Cadence sits down to watch as the lava streaks angrily towards Gemini, threatening to consume him from every direction. Fountains of fire rain down as the rest of the lava snakes its way along the ground, looking for revenge.

Gemini shrieks as molten lava blasts its vicious way towards Gemini. A spark of the flame singes his arm and Gemini hisses in agony. Racing against the ominous flame, Gemini wields his ancient sword and points it ahead of him, as if jousting with an invisible knight. With the lava "hot" on his tail, Gemini cuts through the air faster than lightning, and only a slower replay would reveal the Gemini cut the air in the shape of a five-point star. Gemini dive rolls behind the cut and quickly extends his hand to where he cut through the air, and to your amazement the atmosphere falls away, leaving a black, empty hole in the shape of a five-point star. The hole acts as a vacuum and sucks in the lava that had been chasing Gemini. Gemini stands behind his protective portal, and all the lava from Kuri's depths are sucked into the mysterious transport in the air. The vacuum created by the star portal is so powerful that as the fire is sucked from the cracks of Kuri, the cracks of Kuri are sucked out of the ground and the splits in the rock come together again. As all of the dangerous fire seeps into the portal, Gemini returns to the front side of the hole and patches it with his magic. He turns to Cadence and bows.
