SkyeFyre vs. Cadence

SkyeFyre plops down atop the chest pondering how to proceed. After a few minutes she shoves her hand into the little colorful pouch at her waist and pulls out a handful of seeds. Sprinkling the seeds all over the floor she grins as she returns to her seat. A little rain cloud begins to form above your head and you hear a pathetic rumbling sound but aren't sure if it'd coming from the cloud or the elf's stomach. The tiny cloud makes it's way around the room drenching everything, the floor, the chest, you, and your opponent before it dissipates. The little seeds begin to twitch and many of them fall between the floor boards. They grow with strange speed as if helped along by some external force and SkyeFyre just sits, watching. Green stems push up from the earth by the dozens. Stretching skywards they bloom into the most amazing array of colors you've seen in... Well, in a long time anyway. You're tempted to lean down and smell the flowers but something strange begins to happen. It seems as though the colorful array of flora is... leaking? Like paint, thick oily drops splatter across the wood. Deep reds, bright yellows, calming blues all begin to run across the floor. The colors flood out rising around you and Skye jumps up from the chest into the rafters thinking it might be a safer place to watch from. As the flowers spill their color out they continue to grow. Vine like appendages crawl along the walls of the room and snake towards your feet hoping to anchor you to the floor in this rising rainbow tide.

Cadence oohs and aahs at all the pretty colors. He dances around in the paint until he starts to feel things crawling around his feet. Jumping and screaming like a little girl, he quickly pulls a magic purple crayon out of his pocket. Drawing a little boat, he steps into it and draws spikey things on the outside to keep away the attacking flora. Then he quickly draws up 7 little figures and throws them into the pooling paints. Each little goblin pulls out a small lasso and swings it about for a moment, then realizes that the rainbow it has to catch is already on the ground. Swimming around, the little goblins choose a color and start to drink. Filling up, they seven of them drain up the lake. The craftiest, Yellow, leading them. But then the vines begin to attack the goblins while Cadence sits safely in his little boat. Sadly giving up on his little creatures, Cadence throws a bean on the ground. It grows quickly, much like the flowers SkyeFyre planted. Climbing up it, Cadence reaches the rafters. A booming voice bellows out as a very large head comes into view. “FEE FI FO FUM! I smell the blood of an Englishm…” Cadence quickly draws up a big club with his crayon and whaps the giant over the head with it. Leaning in, he whispers into the giant’s ear and then steps back. “FEE FI FO FUM! I smell the blood of a SkyeFyre elf!” With that, the giant roams around trying to eat Skye. His feet pound on the still wet and colorful floor, stepping on plants as the goblins run back and forth trying not to get squished.

SkyeFyre goes wide eyed at the sight of the goblins, "Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet!" she gushes. The happy mage watches, giggling girlishly as the creatures from her childhood tales scurry about the room. She frowns as she observes verdant green vines turning on the goblins and Cadence's careless disregard for the poor creatures. Just then a large, very confused giant steps down from his beanstalk. His roars, previously unheard by the alabaster elf because of her keen focus on the goblins, boom through her head. "FEE FI FO FUM! I smell the blood of a SkyeFyre elf!" the giant bellows as he ambles after Skye's slight form. Crushing everything in his path without heed the goblins scatter in hopes of escaping the giant's huge lumbering feet. SkyeFyre pulls open her rainbow bag as the container quadruples in size and rushes around gathering the diminutive creatures up into it. After rescuing all seven she hefts the bag over her shoulder like a big Santa sack and returns her attention to the giant. Instead of facing him head on she decides on another tactic. The elf shimmies hurriedly up the beanstalk and finds herself somewhere in the clouds. The mage shoves her hand into the miraculous bag again and fishes around trying to find something or other as the giant begins to climb back up toward her. "Ah ha!" she cries as she yanks a golden harp from the sack and holds it up triumphantly. The harp whimpers slightly as Skye hurls it toward the climbing giant. Soon a golden shower of instruments begins to fall, pummeling the giant and beating him back down the beanstalk. If Cadence isn't careful he too might get beaned with a twangy, snarey, something or other.

Cadence dances about, avoiding the rain of instruments to the best of his abilities. He pulls out an old, leather-bound book and flips through it until he finds a page with a small boy planting a magic bean. He quickly reads through to the end, watching as his giant roams about with a small boy, carrying out the story. The little boy defeats the giant and Cadence slams his book shut, all traces of the beanstalk, young boy, and giant vanishing with the closing pages. Looking up to try to figure out what to do about the instruments smashing around him, he gets whacked right on the forehead with a rainstick. Falling over and grumbling, he pulls out his magic purple crayon and quickly draws an umbrella over him. A trumpet streaks right through the purple fabric and lands on Cadence's hand. Squealing like a little girl, Cadence hastens to draw a rock cave above him. Then he feels bad about the instruments breaking and draws water pouring quickly from the rock beside him. Realizing that being stuck in a cave during a flash flood is probably not a good thing, he draws a little boat with a hard top and sits in it while the water continues to rise. It protects the instruments as they fall, but also threatens to eventually drown SkyeFyre as it fills up the little room.

SkyeFyre eeps! Plummeting down from her newly nonexistent cloud she barely has time to slip into an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny, yellow polka-dot bikini in mid air before splash down. She does a belly flop into the rising water and flounders around for a while. Swimming frantically for the side of Cadence's little boat she barely reaches it before turning blue and sinking into the depths of the... um... room. Floating lazily downward, and seemingly devoid of life her whole body convulses and the rain of instruments finally ceases. The death rattle? Moments of quiet stillness pass, your eyes watching the water as it is beaten by the continuing downpour of more and more water. The mage spasms again, you think sadly perhaps signifying her end. But no, in a flash she's gone from sight. She darts back and forth through the water, swimming like a fish, and near as you can figure she's devolved back to some time when people were more... aquatic? Swishing up to the side of your boat she reaches out a single finger and pokes it. The spot becomes a reddish brown and the color begins to spread. As your little craft begins to rust water rushes in around your feet and you begin to sink into the very flood you yourself created.

Cadence starts wailing as he sees Skye stop moving. Then he realizes that maybe he can save her. Working as quickly as he can he opens his book and flips to a page about a funny little woman with a wooden spoon. Skimming down he finds the part where the evil creatures suck up the lake as she’s trying to escape. Tapping the book, he points up to the rafters and seven fat, ugly looking creatures appear and begin to drink the water. Then he pulls out his purple crayon and draws a plug. He draws a string and a dolphin. Putting the string in the dolphin’s mouth, he ties the other end to the plug and points to the cave where the water is coming from. The dolphin swims down and puts the plug in the hole in the rocks. The water level begins to lower quickly. Cadence brushes away his tears as he sees Skye disappear. Then he lets out a loud cheer as she starts darting through the water. He’s completely gleeful by the time she starts rusting and sinking his boat. Not even bothering to fix it, he dives into the receding water and gives Skye a big hug. As the water disappears, Cadence’s cave and dolphin vanish also. Suddenly the seven ugly creatures are chasing after SkyeFyre trying to get her to make rice for them with her magic spoon! Cadence sits back on the chest and giggles.

SkyeFyre giggles as Cadence gives her a warm hug and goes to sit on the little treasure chest. Panic takes her though as the water descends further and she soon finds herself flapping a fishy tail against the wet wooden floor. As her enchantment finally fades, she blinks as she finds a spoon in hand and jumps to her feet. Flailing madly as the seven strange, swollen creatures chase after her she drops her bag and the rainbow goblins tumble out onto the still drying floor. Cadence\'s giggling grows louder as he watches the little colorful creatures try to disentangle themselves from one another and all of a sudden, the seven ugly creatures explode with laughter, no longer able to contain themselves. Spilling the watery contents of their stomachs back into the tiny room they give up chase of the elf as she and the goblins are washed back out the door into the tavern.
