We found this biography in the book  “The Life Story of Truman Heap Barlow including his forbearers, immediate kinfolk and posterity.”  Printed by Kimber C. Barlow in 1961. Bountiful, Utah                               

Truman Call Barlow was born 28 October 1879, Bountiful, Utah. Parents moved to Chesterfield, Idaho, in 1883. Here Truman received elementary schooling. The family returned to Bountiful in 1889, where he graduated from the eighth grade. He spent 18 months at L. D. S. College, Salt Lake City. Served as missionary in Northern States mission, January 1899 to May 1901, laboring in Southern Indiana Conference.

Nellie Rampton

Married Nellie Rampton, 27 March 1902 in Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple, Pres. John R. Winder officiating. Nellie Rampton was born 2o November 1878 in Bountiful, daughter of Henry Rampton b. 8 September 1829, Old Ollesford, England, and Ada Alice MacDuff b. z5 November 1850, Brampton, England.

Nellie had been employed as clerk in the Charles Rampton store. She was active in dramatics, sang in the Bountiful choir and taught classes in Sunday School.

Truman and Nellie made their home in Bountiful until March 1903, when they moved to Iona, Idaho.

 Iona, Idaho

In Iona (Idaho) Truman Barlow was active in church work: ward teacher, Supt. of Sunday School, president of ward M.LA. and later of stake M.LA. Also served on High Council and, 3 September :1913, he was appointed bishop of Iona Ward by Elder David O. McKay. During the six years of service he organized branches of the ward at Ozone and  Twin Creeks. These summer-time branches accommodated  families living in Idaho Falls during the winter, and on their dry farms in the summer time.

In the early years of his residence in Iona, Truman Barlow was engaged in general farming and in raising sugar beets. Was awarded a prize in 1904 for the largest tonnage of beets on a fifty acre tract. Per acre average was 20 tons. Also grew hay, clover seed, oats, wheat, potatoes, etc. He operated two bands of sheep on the range, 1500 head each, and Ought and fattened several thousand sheep each year.

During these busy years, Truman Barlow assisted in the organization of the Idaho Falls Bonded Warehouse, and also the Utah-Idaho Potato Growers Assn.-a firm which shipped, dehydrated, and processed potatoes Was also a director in the Iona Mercantile Co., and a one-third owner in the sheep shearing business on Canyon Creek. He was a mem­ber of the committee which organized the Grazing Assn. under the Idaho Wool Growers Assn. in upper Snake River Valley. He represented this Company at a convention of National Wool Growers Assn. in Denver. In spite of these heavy responsibilities Mr. Barlow also served many 'ears as precinct chairman of the Republican Party in Iona. While the family lived in Iona, Nellie Rampton Barlow served as Second counselor in the presidency of the stake Primary Board.

During this time, 1913 to 1923, he served as Agricultural Supt. for Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. He leased and operated several farms for this company, and also managed a project in cattle and sheep feeding on beets and factory bi-products. During this time the Sugar Co. bought the Ogood property west and north of Idaho Falls-a tract of 10,000 acres. Mr. Barlow secured tenants for the farms on this property and assisted in the operation.

Pocatello, Idaho

In 1924 Mr. Barlow and family moved to Pocatello, where their children could have favorable schooling and where Truman C. could continue farm work. In 1928 he moved to Blackfoot where he again became Agricultural Supt. for Utah-Idaho Sugar Co.

The next move, 1932, took the Barlow family to Burley, where until 1944, Truman was engaged in farming and livestock breeding. Here he cooperated in the organization of the Beet Growers Assn. of Lower Snake River Valley; was president of this organization until 1944.

The foregoing recital of the activities of Truman Call Barlow marks him as one of the outstanding personalities in the agricultural and industrial life of Southern Idaho during the period of his residency there.

During the fourteen years residence in Burley, Truman Barlow's church activities included MIA presidency and Adult Sunday School class leader.

Burley, Idaho

Church activities of Nellie Rampton Barlow during their moves above recorded included president of Blackfoot Relief Society, counselor in presidency of Relief Society of Burley Ward and membership on Relief Society Stake Board of Burley Stake. Nellie was also member of Burley D.U.P.

Seven children were born to Truman Call Barlow and Nellie Ramp­ton Barlow: Newell Rampton, Hubert R., Truman R., Donald R., Dean R., Cluff R., and Keith.

On the 6th day of April, 1940 Nellie Rampton Barlow passed away at her home in Burley. Her body was interred in the Idaho Falls City Cemetery.

On the 20th day of November 1940, Truman Call Barlow married Elizabeth Rampton Rollins in Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Elizabeth, widow of George Rollins, who died 24 February 1932, was born 17 March 1883, Bountiful. daughter of Henry Rampton and Ada Alice MacDuff. She was a sister of Nellie Rampton Barlow.

Elizabeth was married to George Rollins 5 December 1907. They made their home in Centerville where George engaged in market gar­dening and fruit growing. They were both active in the religious and civic life of Centerville and Davis County. Four children were born to George and Elizabeth: Charles Wallace, deceased, Leone (Hunsaker), George Athen and Iva May (Green).

Sunset, Utah

In 1944 Truman Barlow and his wife moved to Sunset, Utah, where, for 13 years, he was employed by Clearfield Navy Supply Depot, and Hill Field Air Base. He retired at age of 79.

Elizabeth Rollins Barlow passed away at the home in Sunset, Utah, 25 November 1959, of a heart disturbance.

In early January,1960 Truman Barlow visited relatives and friends in Los Angeles. While there he spent a few hours with the compiler of this sketch, and provided much of the detail in the sketches of his father and mother. Following are sketches on the lives of the seven sons of Truman C. and Nellie Rampton Barlow.  (Only Newell in included on this page)

Sons of Truman Call Barlow and Nellie Rampton

NEWELL RAMPTON BARLOW was born in Woods Cross, Utah, 20 January 1903.

Elementary schooling in Iona, Idaho; graduate Idaho Falls High School; studied at Ricks College and University of Utah. Engaged for two years as teacher in elementary school, Basalt, Idaho. Since, has been employed as postal clerk in the Blackfoot post office.

Married Margaret Fullmer, 10 June 1926 in Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Margaret was born 13 March 1899, Mapleton, Utah, daughter of William Price Fullmer, b. 10 November 1871, Mapleton, Utah, and Fannie Verona Whiting, b.27 October 1877, Mapleton, Utah.

For the past thirty years Newell and Margaret have resided in Blackfoot. Both have been active in church work: Newell as president of Elders Quorum, ward clerk and Sunday School teacher, and Margaret as teacher in Sunday School and Stake Board member of Primary and Sun­day School. She has served as public school teacher for twenty-two years. Four children were born to Newell and Margaret. Brief notes on their lives follow herewith.

Carol Jeanne (Winmill), 25 April i928, Pocatello, Idaho. Graduate of Blackfoot High School. Was married to Joseph Dee Winmill 29 March 1946, Idaho Falls Temple. Joseph was born 18 December 1921, Sugar City, Idaho. He served as Scout Master and counselor in Elders Quorum in Pingree Ward. Is employed as technician for Westinghouse Atomic Division. Carol is president of Pingree Ward Primary Assn.

Newell Fullmer, was born 5 October 1930 Blackfoot, Idaho. Graduate of Blackfoot High School. Studied industrial psychology at U. of Idaho and U. of Utah. U. S. Marine Corps, December 1951 to December 1955, San Diego, California. Married Wilma Murdock,  Thomas, Idaho. daughter of Leo Murdock and Francis R. Dance.

Geraldine Bernice Barlow (Ingram) , Blackfoot, Idaho.

Graduate Blackfoot High School. Business training at L.D.S. Business College, Salt Lake City.

Was married to Richard Paul Ingram, 27 December 1953, Berkeley, Calif. (Temple marriage 25 March 1955, Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple). Richard  (is the) son of Paul Bigler Ingram and Rose Marie Olivia. Since their marriage Richard and Geraldine have lived at Martinez, Calif. where Geraldine has served in the Primary Association, and was employed for a brief period at Kahn's Dept. Store in Oakland.

Geraldine was active in church work-M.IA. organist, Mia-Maid leader, Relief Society Theology Instructor, and First Counselor in Primary Assn. Presidency. Richard graduated from Uintah High School. Was active in church duties in Oakland, genealogy and scout work.

Ada Lucile Barlow was born 18 October 1938, Blackfoot, Idaho. Graduate of Blackfoot High School. Is gifted in music, receiving three Idaho State "Superior Ratings" in Clarinet and one in Voice. Was an "honor student" in other high school subjects.
