Nikon Type G Lens Compatibility Chart
The only difference between Nikon AF-D and AF-G lenses is that AF-G lenses have no aperture ring. The lack of an aperture ring affects the compatibility of the lens with certain cameras. The chart below shows G type lens exposure mode compatibility with different Nikon SLR camera bodies, where Y = Compatible and N = Incompatible (Lens can physically be attached to camera, but will not function)
