A little explanation is due here, but I'll be brief. The following are one hundred text files. Each details, in brief, a fiction/fanfiction story idea written down in a 'formal' way by Jared Waddell. These usually include supporting scenes or teasers, vague outlines, character details, a plot statement, along with any number of quotes or lengthy discussions about the point of the story, its intended feel or any number of related items. These files contain some really raw stuff (it may not make sense because of poor layout, sketchy information, or what have you) and some may contain adult themes. Such entries will be plainly marked.
That's it. Enjoy!
##:TITLE | DESCRIPTION |
Gundam/2 | Hiro Saotome? File this one under siblings that should not be. Funny in a Full Metal Panic kind of way, but am I any good at that kind of humor? Relatively good synopsis, but only one scene with a line paraphrased from a fanfic I can't remember now. |
The Heir | James Rhan's son sets out to do good. Synopsis only, but captures the spirit of the story nicely. I could do this as a sidestory/altiverse item later on. Written by anyone other than I, and it would have to be termed 'fanfiction.' |
The Amazing Adventures of Perceivial Bane | An interesting idea with a painfully vague Synopsis. Your usual 1930's-esque detective tale with a strong anime-style twist. Can't even remember the bad guys so I'm certainly never writing it. |
No Title | A crossover that many have no doubt attempted and done better than I. Still, there is a nice twist (also highly unoriginal) in the supplemental bit at the end. |
No Title | An attempt at a Kimagure Orange Road story in the context of The Traveler universe. A nice idea, but one I'm not sure I will ever have the finese to write. |
A Thought in the Darkness | An 'edgy' story idea that just looks dumb today. Contains religiously offensive content. Maybe. Bottom line? I lost interest, but the scenes are work keeping. |
The U.S.S. Kamehameha | Synopsis, tag line, nothing else of substance. The DBZ characters are the crew of a whacky Federation star ship. I could probably do this one now, as the brand of insane humor is clearly within my grasp, but do I really need another story to write? Adopt this one! |
The Tides of Times | Solid synopsis, but the outline just failed to materialize. Awesome, as far as I can remember. Another good project for an ambitious soul to adopt. See my CoW page for my disclaimer about fanfiction use of my stories. |
Sooner or Later | Some nice scenes and a reasonably competent synopsis. Basically James in the DBZ world of the Trunks Special. Use your imagination. |
TERMINAL ASSASSIN^2 | Clearly this one never went anywhere, but a decent round-up of what's going on is present. You can tell this is very old by the spelling errors and various grammatical issues throughout. |
Lemon Variety Pack | A story idea... without a plot. I tried to be funny. NO LEMON CONTENT. How's that for under-developed? |
Slow Dance in Hell | Thin on synopsis and thinner on actual plot. I planned to write this at one point, but seeing as there is no plot in this file... oh well. |
A Long Hard Fall | Despite very little explanation in the file, this is a particularly cool idea for a short story, filled as it would be with lengthy philosophical lectures on the nature of martial arts. The object lessons and fallout from Ranma's training would, of course, be the subject of a much longer and more detailed story. Worth a read. |
No Title | Wild stab at a dark story where Ranko suffered from hallucinations and strange physical pains. A dark destiny for her brews on the horizon. I actually quit working on this idea because I didn't feel like doing something so dark, so... anti-life. |
A Leg Up | An off-beat story involving the COW cast that never got developed. Should probably be cut from this list. |
The Cult of Killers | Short, sweet, smart. Someone's probably already done this in a Hollywood movie, but I once even had a plot sketched out. The basic is great and the synopsis (all of one paragraph), is one of the few must-reads. WARNING: Violent. |
No Title | Ah, the legendary idea 16. A lot of spin-offs of S:E have been sketched out in the last few years. This one centers around Ed's daughter (don't ask), taking a 'vacation' or some such in the Sailor Moon universe. Largely consisting of dialogue-based expository scenes, this one is quite long but I fear a little too hard to follow unless you've read SIDESTEP:EVANGELION. |
A Tale of Two Evils | A cruel parody I created to encourage me to finish the main story. The main story is effectively never going to be written now, but these scenes for the sequel were worth keeping. Go ahead and read them, you know you want to... |
Twelve Steps from Nowhere | A timeless crossover, a chilling lack of scenes, a poster child for not putting too much on your plate. I would love to write this story some day, if for nothing else than writing a DBZ fic were lives aren't snuffed out by the thousands. |
Call Me Crazy | The title pretty much says it all. I didn't read this through and frankly I don't need to. Serious outline, covering basically a whole story, some partially completed scenes. If you like SM or new interpretations thereof, go ahead. Take it and write if it you want, I'm certainly not going to do anything with it. |
Cardcaptor Sakura: `Till the Dawn of Never | A much-loved idea that simply didn't get enough TCL. Basically set fairly early on in the anime, when Sakura is battling the Time Card, Himura Kenshinsteps out of thin air next to the card. Originally, he was sent to the future to prevent some cataclysm, but after a while, Ranma 1/2 got involved, and there was a surgical procedure to implant this one into the story, and it was just the old 'Himura Kenshin is related to Ranma' and the idea died on the operating table. |
East Meets West | My finest Hollywood moment, in which cliche after cliche is hurled into a storyline so sickening it could only be created by Yours Truly. It at once an idea to inspire dreams and nightmares, to numb the taste buds and salivate, an idea that inspires both awe and disgust. I am never writing movie scripts like this for a living. |
Project EDEN | Originally a throwaway tale of destruction, destruction, and more destruction, Project EDEN grew into a story I actually liked, mostly because the main character was such a nice ordinary joe. Then there's the whole EDEN mecha that he pilots--an invisible, unkillable machine with a gun that fires black holes. Hell. Yeah. |
Clash of the Gods | An old idea influenced by Robot Jox and Dragonball Z, a bunch of people with weird superpowers duel over the remains of a world ravaged by war. The superpowers are artificial, provided by machines, and the entire tournament is riddles with spies and intrigue and... stuff. |
Echoes | More dark original stories. Don't read the outline to this one if you want to sleep well at night. |
Legend | A pretty interesting fantasy idea involving dimension hopping, magic, and other things I've been known to dabble in. |
The Psycho Sidestep Crossover Project | I should be shot for this one. With a paintball gun, mind you. Anyway, I won't actually read it. It's that bad. Worth ignoring. |
Night of the Tenticular Menace | LIME WARNING. A pretty funny idea filled with all sorts of lemony goodness (none actually in the idea file). It's kind of a parody of cliche tenticle porn, the likes of which decent people should never have to see. At one time, this story was just funny and a little gross, then the characters got fleshed out, I thought up a few fight scenes, and suddenly it was cute. A cute lemon? Then I quit working on it. |
Red Circle Guardians | This one had a good hold on me for a long time. It's an emotional story crossing magic with very contemporary themes (anyone else noticing a long string of original ideas and stuff with classical fantasy elements happening now?). Revised several times, this file contians the incomplete revision which came up with four new characters that are only marginally different from the characters they replace. Given a proper bad guy, this could be and interesting "B" movie story. |
Legends of Durankov | A weird altiverse continuation of Chronicles of War (look elsewhere on the sight to find that) where James plays for keeps. Far simpler and darker than the original story a with a few original twists. Though it's on the 'free ideas' page, I may actually write this one someday. Maybe. |
RIPOFF! | About what it sounds like. A comical take on US martial arts action movies. Sort of "Kung Pow!" meets any Chuck Norris movie. |
The L-Team | A-Term parody with female anime characters form the "L-Team," a group of ex-Special Forces mercenary chicks that help people and exude ridiculous amounts of lesbian overtones in every episode. |
The Great Pan-Dimensional Scavenger Hunt | From back in the days when it was cool to come up with Traveler ideas (that was what, five years ago?), comes this little gem. Basically an excuse for mass anime/original character fights, comedy moments, and weird conversations. This is set in the 'Traveler' universe, which got one part of a ten-part series and... nothing else. Worth picking up if I actually start finishing my major projects around here. |
SideTrip | Superman spoof. James is an alien from the planet Durankov. This yellow sun has given him powers beyond those of any mere human... that's actually the whole idea. Don't bother to read the file. |
Durankoville | Sketchy idea for a distant S:E altiverse/continuation tale which focuses on the difficulties of the main charaters' kids growing up with such... eccentric parents. |
My Kingdom for an Assassin | I don't know what this is about. Seriously. There's quite a few scenes in there, but I'm too afraid to read them, literally. |
Body Count | Although the story doesn't say it, this is about a background character who will be talked about a lot in the second Chronicles of War novel. Nice plot, kinda Dean Koontz flavor. |
Project KERO: Dr. Nose | Me being silly for the sake of being silly. I love Card Captor Sakura. Anime, manga, it's all good. So here's the characters of this beloved series in a James Bond spoof. Aww... ain't it cute? |
Evangelist Utena | One of those insanely cool (and potentially quite short) story ideas I weap about never getting off the ground. Of course, I don't know where to go with it even now. Rehashing all of Eva is just not gonna happen, and I need to watch Utena (the TV series) about six more times before I really 'get it,' so this is one idea that may just get stuck here. For a few more years. Still... |
When Will He Learn | An excuse to pit a super-assassin with the power of a Legendary Super-Saiyajin against a few hundred xenomorphs from the "Aliens" movie. Some decent dialogue. Huge action sequences. Funny dialogue. That is all; move along. |
SCION:Nameless | Basically an excuse to write up a bunch of John Woo-esque gun battles. Really, that's about it. |
Save the Children | Creepy horror story. I warn you, even the this sketch of the idea may be highly disturbing. Ghosts of dead children communicate to a young man and his friends, who must then find and stop their killer before he finds another victim. |
THE FINAL MISTAKE | Just a collection of scenes in this file, so let me explain the plot. It's NGE fanfiction, with a twist. Some very weird... kid kidnapped Shinji before the first episode of the Evangelion anime. Eventually he helps get Shinji home somehow, and despite being hunted by NERV and JSSDF, sticks around and kinda plays a friend to the young Eva pilot. Basially Shinji sees how bad this kid has it, and figures his life isn't so bad. Not sure what the point of this was, but I think that this was the one where the kid turns to be stick in a kind of time loop with third impact. It happened, he woke up in his own bed a few weeks before the beginning of the series, and tried to take matters into his own hands. The story takes place, if I remember correctly, during his seventeenth time through this time loop. |
SAILORMOON Z | Yes, I deserve to be shot for this. Never completed all of the 'key scenes' that I wanted to. A real shame, it sounded funny at the time. |
Quest of Infinity | This idea, drafted during my 'epic or nothing' phase, is about a lengthy Quest Asuka embarks on in search of the dragonballs. I'm not kidding. Read the first bit of the file. Inspired by Lee's archive of good ideas. I got one scene done, but sadly not a fully story. |
The Price of Things | Resevoir Dogs spoof with anime characters. Which anime characters? Well, there's the catch. Read the file and laugh out loud. |
A Wind Called Vengeance | There's scenes, but I can't remember what this is about. At all. Seriously. And I'm pretty darned sure this has nothing to do with that story involving the SWAT team and that rooftop helicopter battle. So... take from it what you will, and if you figure out what's supposed to happen, e-mail me! |
Sailor New York! | Generic magical girl anime styled version of Chronicles of War with the main characters of the story the appropriate age. Takes place in NYC, naturally. It sounded good at the time, and it sounds good now. Perhaps someday in the distant future I'll have time to actually write it. |
The Peter Pan Syndrome | Didn't even finish the idea. Not sure if I wanted to, as the whole thing sounds wildly pretentious (even now). Weird, worth a gander if you want to chuckle at the stupid things I come up with. |
Sunset | Characters from another story idea of mine "Ties Unbroken" are in the Trigun world and have various adventures there. You can tell from my... enthusiasm that I didn't have enough interest this for it to go anywhere, despite the concept sounding pretty cool. |
Bad Jared! | Star Wars: Episode 1, retold with DBZ and Chronicles of War characters. Even dumber than it sounds. |
Never Tomorrow | Interesting idea set in... well, to be perfectly honest, I can't remember what continuity this fits. If it doesn't many any sense, I have no-one to blame but myself. Also incompletely outlined. |
The Gifted | This was supposed to be the backstory for the two guys that trained James, but got to wierd and doesn't mix well with the Chronicles of War standard line, even in this form. |
A Sight, A Whisper | I didn't elaborate on the plot of this one very much. That's because I don't remember what it is. Something about schools training magical users for war and a return of Lavos or something. It sounded great when I was coming up with it, but now I couldn't even tell you who's in it. |
Schooled | This actually has some concrete basis in my head. Follow the synopsis, then read Chronicles of War (once I get most of Book II finished), and it might even make sense to you, dear reader. Right now, the hook is too vastly complicated to explain, even if this entire page were dedicated to it. It's in the ideas folder, though... so now you have it! |
James Point Five | This one really shouldn't belong here, because I'm actually writing it. The basic story is that James is Ranma's cursed side, but the two are separate in body and mind. They communicate via notebooks and borrowed computers, trying... get to the end of the story. |
What We Once Were | A DBZ story. Can't remember where it went. |
As It Is Called | Heh. You're not going to believe this, but... I have NO idea what this story was about. |
Life | Heh. Not only do I have a clear idea of where this is supposed to go, but even try to explain it in the file. Pretty promising and worth a read. |
Please Rewind! | What if the Chronicles of War cast all worked in a video store? Go ahead and read it--you know you want to. |
The Durankov Text Adventure! | Parody of text adventure computer video games (which I adore) where the reader 'plays' James Rahn and must accomplish several mundane tasks on a list. Things go crazy and weird. Hilarious. I should probably dust off my skillz and finish this some day. Quite entertaining even though it's just an idea. |
No Title | Maintain my unblemished record of deleting things without provocation, the outline to this one seems to be missing. You may draw what little conclusions can be drawn from the remains. |
Assassin of Epics | In direct contrast to #61 above, I simply don't have a real outline for this story. The idea, originally, was that I wouldn't bother with a detailed outline, and just take what's in thie file and run desparately for a plot. Very free-form thinking. I know, probably doesn't belong on this list, but I have to post something, so here you go. |
A Cold Night | The file does explain it well. A high-octane action thriller in a hospital. Too many bad episodes of E.R. induced me to create this one. |
MATRIX || ZERO | Truly, a teaser unto it's own. I kind of don't want to give away the surprise... okay, it's been so long since I worked on it I can't remember the suprise. Sigh. |
The IT Department from Hell | A collection of vignettes that I could have probably worked into a webcomic a long time ago, had I posessed any artistic abilities. A new guy starts working part time in a high-pressure university IT department, and it's quite possible the strangest job he'll ever have. |
Rife Life | Shape-shifting beings with super powers begin taking over the world by assaulting a small engineering office. The slaughter is blammed on one man, who promptly goes on the run and uncovers the plot. Now he must save the world for a 'superior' race while being hunted by the mundane authorities. |
Once Upon a Time | Quiet, poignant, direct, brief, bleak. A dramatically different take on events in the Chronicles of War storyline. The speicifics are not revealed in this text, and that's a good thing. Planning specifics equals writing this. Writing this means I dont' finish Chronicles of War until much later. |
Fast Food Wars | I've always wanted to see a fast-paced, slightly insane anime about restaraunts battling each other, and since I can't seem to track down any specific anime that actually feature this (I know at least two exist, I just can't come up with titles or anything). So, I thought about writing my own. |
Fall of the Gemini Alliance | A traveler side-story featuring some friends of his. The unsaid driving force behind the story is not just the action but that the bad guy may, in fact, destory a score of universes if his dark work is completed. |
Please Rewind! | Chronicles of War philosophy crammed into a video store. Don't ask... for the love of God, just don't ask... |
The Other Saga | Fight Clube-esque story closely following the setting/feel of Azumanga Daioh, but with DBZ characters. I do actually have a clue what the hook for this one is, but I'm not going to give it away just yet. |
Not Here | I started writing this one. How odd. Very dark, Ranma 1/2 stuff, and DTF stuff, which is related to some Traveler stuff (see the main page for that sucker. Will I get around to finishing this one? Well, after I'm done with NGI, SE, and CoW... |
Race or Die | My take on Riding Bean, the idea crafted to fit the needs for a single character in some other unrelated story. So, basically this is actually a backstory fic. Interesting. |
The Immortal Story | Idea file contains a very back-of-the-box description that's too generic to really tell you what the story's about. The point was that I'd have a generic start and write the rest of the story basically by the seat of my pants (this works fairly well for me, I've recently learned). So, not pertinent details. Nonetheless, it's here for the sake of completeness. |
Simple Pleasures | Let's hear it for another pointlessly short summary. I'm not even going to comment on this one. |
Silent Scream | Yet another of my 'Utena Tenjou as James Bond' ideas. Here, Utena is tasked with uncovering the source of several unusual orders for massive bits of an unknown machine. It turns Akio is the bad guy, and most of the SKU cast makes appearances as key characters. Some things I've left vague, but contained in this file is a rather complete outline with a specific series of themes and events that parallel the action, deceit, and intrigue of a good James Bond flick. |
Normal Day in Nerima | Just what it suggests, only what's termed a normal day in Nerima is as freaky-weird as possible. Once it's over, everyone collectively shrugs. A bad ending, I know. |
Cold | A freaky inversion of reality and complex head-games dominated this Ranma 1/2 story where nothing is quite as it seems. I tried to give away the entire story, but there's simply too many small points that add up to make this an interesting tale. Suffice to say, I'd really like to write this sucker one day. |
Church of the Dead | I... have NO idea what this is about. Read it and invent your own convoluted guesses at the original plot! |
