Eric K'Napp
The above are pictures of the medical torture that happened in February,
2004. The evidence is clear as there were witnesses and this photograph
is from a laminated Lancaster Prison ID card. Because Eric Knapp
is my son, and because we have a lawsuit pending against Warden Michael
Knowles, he was sent 408 miles away from his family against doctor's
orders.
Before Eric left CSP Sac, he had an incidence of catatonic fugue which is associated to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This means he passed out and lost bodily functions and should have been taken to the hospital immediately. Instead he was handcuffed, shackled and had two open ammonia capsules forced up inside his nose until he regained consciousness. When he awoke he was covered in blood as the ammonia burned out his nasal passages and caused capillaries to break. The training instructs that ONE ammonia capsule is to be held no closer than 4" from the nose and waved through the air, not jammed inside the nasal passages. My son was tortured and for hours chunks of skin came out of his nose.
No one from the prison would call me, reporters, or other people who inquired
about his welfare. For twenty days I wondered if he was dead or alive.
This refusal to communicate was intentional to hide what had been done
to him because he dared file a lawsuit and
The medical abuse was very intentional and Capt. Martel bragged about
it to others. The only exposure it received in the media was
on a statewide cable show that we as volunteers do ourselves. The professional
cameras picked up the burns much better than this copy of the ID
card that was done at Kinkos, but there are three burn
Can you see by the look in my boy's eyes that he was tortured?
I nearly died when I got the ID card on my way to a Senate hearing.
I gave the photo to Senator Romero and have heard nothing back about
an investigation. So what is being done about this situation?
Nothing that I can see. He did not have PTSD when he entered
