Do Thou, that selfsame Lord and God, accept as a subdeacon and perfect this, Thy servant here present awaiting Thy heavenly gift; for Thou art merciful and compassionate to all who call upon Thee, and strong is Thy power and that of Thy Son and of

people by the baptism of regeneration. May this Thy servant be to all as a lamp of the light of Thine Onlybegotten Son, to order and adorn Thy holy church, to do good by the imposition of hands; so
that the word of Thy gospel may spread, and Thy name be glorified in every creature just as it is in the church which is entrusted to this Thy servant, so that at the second coming of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus, Thy Messiah, Thy servant may receive Thy reward for good stewardship along with all the order of the Priesthood, through the abundance and grace of Thine Onlybegotten Son, to whom with Thee and Thy Living Holy Spirit be glory in both worlds, unto the Aeon of aeons.

For Chorepiscopus

§ After the reading of the Gospel the Chorepiscopus-elect is brought to stand before the Veil. The Archbishop comes and the Candidate makes three bows and is made to kneel. The Archbishop signs the Candidate upon the head thrice with his hand and then lays his hand upon the head of the Candidate.
LORD Jesus Christ, Thou strength and wisdom of God the Father, Thou art worthy to be praised with the Father and the Spirit; for unto Thee alone are all things that pertain to the Father and the Holy Spirit, solely and without division: power and authority and sovereignty and godhead and identity of being. Worthy art Thou on the throne of Thy Kingdom, sanctified by the seraphim in the threefold song in the heavenly Church. Because of Thine unutterable love for mankind Thou hast purchased the holy Church through Thy precious Blood and hast filled it with divine gifts and offices, more exalted than those of the world, so that in it Thou mayest be truly served by high priests and priests and deacons in the likeness of the heavenly powers. Truly, thou dost magnify Thy Church more than the heavenly powers by the breaking of Thy precious Body and Blood. We beseech Thee, O Lord God, that Thou wilt grant our requests and receive this Thy servant who is brought here before Thee for the supply of our lack and make Thy servant worthy to serve Thee as a priest acceptable and not profane. Be pleased O Lord God that Thy servant be a steward, guide, watchman and guardian. O Lord God make strong in the service of Thy holy church, establish in Thy priestly sheepfold, and confer on Thy servant the office of a shepherd to pasture Thy rational sheep in the meadows of strength for the sake of Thy help toward us. And praise and honour let us offer to Thee and Thy Father and Thy Living Holy Spirit, One God, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.

§ The Archdeacon says:
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, which always supplies our deficiencies advances from the order of the Presbyterate, (Name) to be a Corepiscopus in the holy church of (Parish). Let us all pray that the Holy Spirit will come upon the pious Presbyter (Name) and cry out thrice saying Kyrie Eleison!
Kyrie Eleison! Kyrie Eleison! Kyrie Eleison!
O LORD God, make Thy servant worthy of the calling of the corepiscopate, worthy by Thy love of mankind, to serve Thee with a good and priestly service in Thy holy sanctuary and to find mercy in Thy presence. Because Thou art the God that hast pleasure in mercy and the love of mankind; and to Thee is due all honour and worship, and to the † Son and to the Living Holy Spirit, One God, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.
O GOD, the giver of all good gifts, Thou understandest all the deeds of man and gazest on all their ways, and by Thy care directest all who have need of Thee, to Thee do we pray. Succour this Thy servant, and grant sufficient grace and diligence and watchfulness and discernment and strength and authority to please Thee in this service. And make Thy servant worthy in holiness and without defilement to direct Thy people in right paths, and judge right judgements to cut off from them all impetuosity and unreason and imprudence and all that is contrary to the faith of Orthodoxy. And may all be done to your praise, O God and Father, and for the building of your Church and the increase of your people, and find grace and favour before you and may Thy servant inherit the portion of the faithful and wise stewards through the mercy of the Onlybegotten Son, by whom and with whom praise and honour and power be to Thee with the Holy Spirit, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen. Barekhmar!

§Then the Archbishop places his right hand on the head of the Candidate and says:
Be consecrated in the holy Church of God, (Name), Corepiscopus of the holy and divine sanctuary of  (Parish).

§The Archbishop signs the forehead of the one who is being ordained between the eyes three times in the figure of the cross and says:
IN the Name of the Father
Amen.
and of the Son
Amen.
and of the Living Holy Spirit for life eternal.
Amen. Axios! Axios! Axios! (Name) Corepiscopus.

§ And the Archbishop takes the pastoral staff by its head, and the Corepiscopus who is being ordained grasps it below the hand of the archbishop. And the Archbishop proclaims in a loud voice:
THE sceptre of strength may the Lord send you from Sion.

§ And the Archbishop leaves the pastoral staff in the hands of the one who is ordained.
GOD grant that you be for good building and increase and right progress of the brethren. And may He bestow on you understanding to instruct those who err and to rebuke with boldness and compassion and to welcome lovingly. And may your deeds be in chastity and prudence. May you find grace and love, so that all the things that you do are for the praise of God and the progress of the brethren in the fear of God. May you inherit the share of the faithful and wise rulers and of those who labour in uprightness. By means of the mercy of the Lord God.
Amen.

§ And the Qurbana resumes with the Sermon.

For Bishops

§ After the Epiklesis and before the Second Diptych, the Bishop-elect is brought by one or two Assisting Bishops to kneel behind the Archbishop, standing at the altar, who says this prayer while facing East.
LORD God Tzevaoth, Thou that hast set us in the inheritance of this ministry, who knowest the minds of Thy creatures and searchest their hearts and reins; hear us in Thy mercy and cleanse us from every defilement, filling us with the grace of Thine Onlybegotten Son and the working of Thy
Living Holy Spirit, making us to be sufficient ministers of Thy new covenant able to stand before Thee for the performance of Thy holy mysteries. Do not abandon us to participate in the sins of others, nor permit us to sin through error, but enlighten us to choose those who are worthy and to present them before Thee. Do Thou, that selfsame Lord and God, accept as a bishop and perfect this, Thy servant here present awaiting Thy heavenly gift; for Thou art merciful and compassionate to all who call upon Thee, and strong is Thy power and that of Thy Son and of Thy Living Holy Spirit, One God, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.
PEACE be with you all.
And with thy spirit.

§ One of the Assisting Bishops then proclaims:
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, which always supplies our deficiencies advances from the order of the Priesthood, _____ to be the bishop of the holy diocesan church of _____. Let us all pray that the Holy Spirit will come upon the pious Priest _____ and cry out thrice saying Kyrie Eleison!
Kyrie Eleison! Kyrie Eleison! Kyrie Eleison!

§ The Archbishop then says this prayer facing the altar.
O LORD, make Thy servant worthy of the calling of Thine Episcopate and deserving to labor and to serve in the temple of Thy glory and to find mercy in Thy sight; for Thou art the merciful and compassionate God and unto Thee is due glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, One God, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.

§ The Bishop then gathers Blessing by placing both hands on the Holy Mysteries thrice three times, and then a veil is placed over them by one of the Assisting Bishops. Both the Assisting Bishops then take up the Book of the Holy Gospels and hold it open over the hands of the Archbishop who, placing his veiled hands thrice on the head of the Ordinand, says:
O GOD, that hast created all things by Thy power and hast founded the world by the will of Thine Onlybegotten Son, that hast bestowed on us the knowledge of the truth and made known to us Thy compassionate Spirit; Thou that art Holy, Thou that art Princely, Thou that didst give Thy beloved Son Jesus Christ, the Onlybegotten Word, as pastor and medicine for our souls; and by His Blood established Thy Church and instituted every priestly order therein; that gave us leaders that we might please Thee by making the knowledge of the Name of Thy Christ multiplied and glorified throughout the world: send down on this Thy servant Thy Holy and Spiritual Spirit, so that he may feed and visit Thy Church entrusted to him; that he may ordain priests and consecrate deacons, sanctify altars and temples and bless houses, make effective invocations, heal, judge, greet, free, loose, bind, deprive, apportion and separate. And give him all the power of Thy saints, which Thou didst give to the Apostles of Thine Onlybegotten Son, so that he may be a chief-priest worthy of praise, in the honor of Moses, in the rank of Aaron, in the power of Thy Disciples, in the works of the Bishop Yaqub barAddai, in the seat of the patriarchs, so that the sheep of Thine heritage may be strengthened with Thee through this Thy servant. Give him wisdom and knowledge, that he may teach the will of Thy Majesty, may recognize sins, and may know the limits of judgments and justice, may remove difficult crafts and release all bonds of iniquity
§ here the Archbishop turns towards the East and continues the prayer, saying
for Thou art the giver of good things, the bestower of wisdom and divine gifts, and to Thee do we give glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, One God, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.
PEACE be with you all.
And with thy spirit.

LOOK upon us, O Lord, and on our ministry, and cleanse us from every stain even as Thou givest grace from heaven to this Thy servant so that he may deserve by Thy compassion to be blamelessly occupied in the service to which Thou hast called him, and find mercy with all that have pleased Thee, even from the foundation of the world; for Thou art the God of mercy and compassion and unto Thee is due all glory, honor and adoration, and to Thy Son and to Thy Living Holy Spirit, One God, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.

§ The Archbishop turns again to the Ordinand, and the Assisting Bishops remove the Gospel Book from his head, and the Archbishop signs him with his finger on his forehead, saying:
HE IS promoted in the Holy Church of God.
§ And the Assisting Bishops reply:
_____ Mar _____, bishop of the holy church of the blessed diocesan city of _____.
§ And the Archbishop proclaims again, signing the forehead of the Ordinand:
_____ Mar _____, bishop of the holy church of the city of the Orthodox, _____, in the Name of the Father
Amen.
and of the Son
Amen.
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

§ And the Archbishop raises the Ordinand by the right hand as the Assisting Bishops say:
Barekhmar! Barekhmar! Barekhmar!
§ The Archbishop places on his head the Phira and says:
FOR THE praise and honor and adornment and exaltation of the Holy and Consubstantial Trinity, and for the tranquility and edification of the Holy Church of God.
§ The Archbishop places on him the Phaina and says:
FOR THE praise and honor and adornment and exaltation of the Holy and Consubstantial Trinity, and for the tranquility and edification of the Holy Church of God.
§ The Archbishop places on him the Urara Rabba and says:
FOR THE praise and honor and adornment and exaltation of the Holy and Consubstantial Trinity, and for the tranquility and edification of the Holy Church of God.
§ Then the Archbishop enthrones the Ordinand and exclaims, the People replying:
AXIOS!
Axios! Axios! Axios!
AXIOS!
Axios! Axios! Axios!
AXIOS!
Axios! Axios! Axios!

§ Then one of the Assisting Bishops reads the Gospel Lesson:
At that time...

§ And the other Assisting Bishop leads the prayers of this Diptych:
Stomen Kalos! With diligence and pleasing voices, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
For the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which exists from one end of the world to the other, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
For this assembly, that our election may be without offence and graceful, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
For _____ Mar _____, the newly elected here present, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
For his firm stand in the fear of God and in the Holy Spirit, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
That he may be pleasing unto God, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
For the church entrusted to him, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
For the beauty of his life and service and for his humility and orthodoxy, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
That we may all deserve the victory of our heavenly calling, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie Eleison.
Let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life unto Christ Our God!
To Thee, O Lord!

§ The Archbishop then offers this prayer:
WE GIVE thanks unto Thee, O Lord, and we praise and glorify Thy Holy Name, for Thou hast deigned to do with us and pour out Thy gift upon this Thy servant. Now again we ask Thee, O Lord, to hear us in the greatness of Thy mercies, and may this ordination to the episcopate be pleasing unto Thee. To his calling add also the election, the sanctity, and the grace of Thy goodness, and choose him and us for the good; granting to him that he may labor for Thee with all the talent he has from Thee received. And so with all that have done Thy will, may he receive the reward of the wise and faithful bishops at the Second Coming of our Lord and God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom with Thee and Thy Living Holy Spirit be all glory honor and worship in both world unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.

§ The Archbishop then goes to the New Bishop, and raises him up from his throne, and with the Assisting Bishops gives him his staff with which he will guide his flock. All the Bishops take hold on the staff, and the Archbishop says:
THE LORD send forth to you the rod of His power from Zion, and it will rule over thine enemies.
§ And the Assisting Bishops repeat:
The Lord send forth to you the rod of His power from Zion, and it will rule over thine enemies.
§ And the Archbishop says the third time:
THE LORD send forth to you the rod of His power from Zion, and it will rule over thine enemies.
Amen.
§ And the New Bishop is led to the Holy Table to complete the Qurbana, the Archbishop first praying over him this prayer:
MAY GOD, that didst choose Moses and make him great, and by the rod in his hands didst work wonders in the land of Egypt; that chosest also David from following the sheep to shepherd Israel, His People; That didst choose Holy Apostles and make them heralds of the proclamation of His Gospel, and by their hands worked signs and wonders; may He take also now thy right hand, and with thee shepherd the rational sheep entrusted to thee, equipping thee with the clothing of an approved pastor and with beautiful guidance; and may He make level before thee every height and stumbling-block; through the prayers of His Mother and the Holy Apostles and the Orthodox Fathers and Mothers of the Faith unto the Aeon of aeons. Amen.

§ And the Qurbana is resumed with the Second Diptych being led by one of the Assisting Bishops, and the New Bishop presiding, giving the Peace with the Staff in his right hand, and so to the end where the Archbishop gives the Blessing of the Dismissal.
