A TAL'S FRIEND REPORT!
SCOTT'S REPORT AND PHOTOS FROM ANIMENext 2005

Okie, I didn't attend AnimeNEXT 2005, however I had my spy, Scott Jump In the Poole! (LoLz. Sorry joke from school) go for me. BWHAAHHAHA! Alright, alrighty, I'm kidding again. Scott really wanted to go to AN05 with his dad for his first anime convention ever.

He didn't dress up for cosplay, but he was gracious enough to give me more than a handful of photos. It seemed that he really like the costumes he saw there. Some photos (in no order).

Cosplay Photos:

Scott explained the day at the con as "a fast whoosh that felt like it didn't really happen, kinda like whenever you go take a trip to Universal Studios." Uh great description, I suppose, but I never went to Universal...ah wateva... Anywayz, back to the report. Scott said it was great, and he really enjoyed it. Judging from the prices he told, the Dealer’s Room has cheapened the prices of quite a few merchandise from what my wallet remembers from AN03.

During Scott’s first con, he was also able to attend a few panels and stuff because according to his dad “we paid like $70 each, we’re gonna do something.” And so they did. Two memorable panels were

v  “Fan Etiquette”

Ø Here they explained what an “otaku” for anime lover/ fan boy/ fan girl should do and act in a convention. Many pertain to cosplay.

Ø One Rule: went along the lines bathes, deodorant, soap, and cleanliness are your friends.

Ø Another Rule: There is a difference between saying “Hey, that’s Chii, COOL!” and stalking a girl for an entire day.

Ø Yup, Another Rule: This was said by a girl cosplay. She mentioned something like: Be courteous to people wearing costumes. Some people have been working for a year on these. Then, all of a sudden someone comes out of nowhere and hugs and them and they hear “snap!” They have to run back to their hotel room, crying, trying to salvage it together with glue. It’s good to show appreciation, but please be careful not to over do it.

v The “Full Metal Alchemist” Voice Panel

Ø Scott also attended the voice panel of FMA, but since I am not a fan <gasp!> or actually have not yet really gotten into it, I don’t exactly remember what he said/typed about it.

Ø The cast recited and reenaced funny scripts

§  One Memorable Script: Something about cars, mini skirts, and girls 0_o

All in all, Scott seemed content with AN05, whether or not he will attend I dunno. It seems the quality of the fest has definitely improved, especially with the Big Apple Anime Fest absent again this year, and this being the only con in the tri-state area.

Hope you enjoyed this report minna-san! Thanks to Scott for the report and Scott’s dad for all the photos!
