SOUL CALIBUR II TALIM COSTUME

Worn at: Otakon 2005

Video Game: Soul Calibur II

Intro: Well it all started when I went to Video Game Club with my friends Kristina and John A for the second time or so. Amazingly, they were playing this foreign game "Soul Calibur II" (to me at least) instead of DDR. So I stepped up to the plate against the champion Juniors and Seniors, begging they to go easy cuz A) I am a freshmen and B) a n00bie as well. I TOTALLY ROCKED EVERYONE'S SOCKS WHILE PLAYING THIS CHAR!!! (okie okie I know that phrase is VERY overdone now, but whilst playing SCII for the first time it was not xD) So when my sister and I had to put the FFIX costumes (Dagger and Beatrix) on hold for a warmer convention or more experience, Talim was the first to come to mind as well as Miss Xianghua for my sis. Ironically, she used to play as Xianghua in Soul Calibur I when her college friends had the game.

I really do love this girl though! Talim is so cool and I can relate! Same height (me: 4'8" to 4'9" Talim: 4'8"), same nationality (filipino ^_^ well, I am guessing anyway xD), same age (15!!!), and look my nickname (Tal) is the first 3 letters in Talim's name! w00t! Also, this outfit is perfect for the blasting heat of Otakon during August. Not to mention that there aren't alot of Filipino characters (well anime does mean usually Japanese!) and her built is strong, not super skinny like Rikku (which are my two previous costumes)

Unfortunately, this costume was, yet again rushed, due to my laziness because I was arss tired (we just moved to a new house and I had finals and regents). But I finished it in 3 days while watching Samurai Champloo lol! This costume was held with a lot of hot glue and safety pins too... lol

Construction Notes:

Incompleted Items: Sleeves, hair ties, gold hair clip

Hair: Thick, braided pigtails, j0!

Necklace/Chocker: MY PRIDE AND JOY OF THE ENTIRE COSTUME! MY BEST PROP OF 2005! My beautiful necklace! YAY! I can probably use it again if I ever get around to making Talim's SCIII outfit. It is made from foam board, foam, rising/puff paint, gold acrylic paint, and a mix of gold and brown and black paint. TAL TAL LOVERRS HER TALIM NECKLACE!

Top: Ummm for a wind priestess Talim sure doesn't wear a lot xD I can relate to her, don't get me wrong, but the tube top was evil, evil, evil! I hated the way it turned out and it was really loose xD

Shorts: My pataloon shorts! My pride and joy! I re-did these like 5 times and they are still not perfect! LoLz. I still love them though, even if they were loose. Maybe I will put how to draft a pantaloon pattern in the Tutorial Section.

Belt: Very long, skinny band of green and a flexible, rubber circle painted with gold acrylic paint used to clip it together. Plus, my pouch that I really do love, especially the gold diamond I made for the middle xD

Wristsbands and Gold Cuffs: Simple bands of green and I painted two giant, plastic bracelets with acrylic gold paint.

Kneecovers: Umm dark green fabric?

Legcovers: Hahaha self explainatory, ne?

Shoes: Wrapped my old flat shoes in the dark green fabric. Then I drew circles onto white felt and glued it on. Didn't take too long ^^

Prop- Default Tonfas: Made from foamboard, silver contact paper, ribbons, toilet paper cardboard tubes, and foam spheres! Check the Tutorials Section. Thankkies Tin Tin, my beloved sis from above ^__^
