KINGDOM HEARTS AERITH COSTUME

Video Game: Kingdom Hearts
Intro:
This costume was actually done by my older sister, Christine. She
planned to take me to Otakon ’04 for my graduation present. It was the first
time she was ever attended an anime fest, and a second for me (my first con was
AnimeNext ’03 for my friend’s 13th birthday party). So she wasn’t planning to
dressup because she claimed she was my “guardian” and didn’t have to. Eventually
she gave up from my pleading and ranting that I didn’t want to be all dressed up
alone. So we decided to go for KH version Aerith because I already started my KH
version of Rikku. So to keep up the Kingdom Hearts theme, Aerith was the
simplest to do as well as the most appropriate to do. Aerith should be around
her 20's and so is my sis.
Dress: My sister bought a baby pink, satiny nightgown at TJ Max for like $12. Then she made all the alterations and ripped off the lace at the neckline (okie she didn't do anything violent to the lace, she just folded it...). She also added trim using fabric glue and buttons that don’t actually function.
Hair Ribbon: I actually made this for her because my mom gave me an abundance of red satin. So I hemmed it up into a long ribbon and ironed it. My sis just tied it up in her hair like a bow. Nothing fancy I suppose. I DO think I burned the end though while ironing the ribbon. Wow hope I don't do that to my school uniform...
Necklace and Bangles: My sister found some clear bangles lying around as well as some black string. Cake! ^_^
Belt: Well my sister went to the craft store which had this huge sale. So she bought some purple felt and hemmed it into a rectangle. She made holes to lace through the black string that holds it up. As for the metal studs she got wooden circles and painted them silver. SO COOL 0___0
Boots: Actually, my sister decided to just wear brown my Sketchers sneakers. Much comfier, especially to walk and drive around in. Despite that, her feet were still killing her at the end of the day.
Hair: Uhh she has this technique of doing Aerith’s/Aeris’s/Sephiroth’s
hair. I dunno has to do with lotsa gel, hairspray that could bullets, curlers,
and a curling iron…
