WHAT IS COSPLAY?
Now my friend, if you find yourself asking this question: "What
is cosplay?" we must talk. This whole website is dedicated to it, and you might
think I am crazy (well I think I am, but just a little ^_~) if you don't know
what this THING is. As you may have seen from my previous sites, I like to
introduce what my website is all about. This site is no excuse ^_^ So this is my
explanation of cosplay. Take notes if ya like (LoLz just kidding). Alrighty,
ready?
Cosplay is a shorten form, or even an abbreviation or contraction, of the term
"costume play." Many people, referred as "cosplayers," dress up in costumes they
construct (or commission/ask other costumes) of their favorite characters or own
original creations. Sometimes they even wear them outside in the public n_n A
very Halloween-ish type of hobby.
In my case, I like to cosplay many things that have to do with the japanese
culture. This includes characters from anime (japanese animation), video games
in general, traditional wear such as kimonos, hakamas, and fukus (school girl
uniforms), and j-pop/j-rock wear. Like I said before, these costumes are usually
worn in public. Where do I wear mine? Well where well else, an anime convention
(con) or fest!
Now why the hell would anyone do this? So much time, effort, and yes, even
skill...all for WHAT?! Well I dunno about other cosplayers, but for me it's all
about the fun. I mean, c'mon to be able to dress up as your fave character and
act like them sound...well entertaining to say the least. I find it as an
interesting hobby that shows how much I love my anime and video games. I call it
dedication, you may call it insanity. Either way, that is what cosplay is. If ya
