The cast and characters

University friends who studied something different from me:

Sally - The most supportive person in the world who takes everyone's problems seriously and accumulates some of her own on top of it all. She's reliable till the end, whatever that may be!
I met her on my second year at the University and we've been friends since. She has helped me through some of the roughest times in my life and I'm forever grateful.

Ricardo - (he chose this name so don't blame me) He's been with Sally since secondary school and they make the best couple ever. He's the best male friend I've got and the only man I can talk to about everything. If only they lived in Tallinn - my life would be perfect.

Rogelio - (also, self-chosen name) Another member of our Tartu gang. He was the silent one of a group in which everyone chatted constantly but he was always the one to come up with the best jokes and ideas - "the Brazilian men" to name but one. I use the past tense because the gang is no longer there and I don't get to see him much.

Bryan - Another one of my Tartu friends. He understands so much about what's going on with his friends you'd think he was a girl - which he's not.
He spent a year studying in St. Petersburg and I didn't realise I missed him so much until he was back. When Bryan phoned to let me know he was in town I ran out on work and my other plans to meet him.

Secondary school friends:

Kelly - She introduced me to the people mentioned before because they studied the same thing in the University. Her I met in the secondary school where we were classmates. At first we just hung out with the same people but the last yeas in school brought us closer and we decided to share a flat during the University years.
As mentioned
here we drifted apart when she found her first love. It didn't work out and for a few weeks she was living with me in the Hellhole before getting her own flat.
Also, she introduced me to my first serious boyfriend - something that will always set her apart from everyone else.

Eve - Probably my oldest friend mentioned here. I met her in the secondary school as well but since we were both new to the place we had a lot more in common.
During the University years we weren't together as much but when we both returned to Tallinn the friendship rekindled.
She got married in July 2003 to Steven and I couldn't possibly be happier for her.

The people who studied the same stuff at the University:

Mary - A person from a totally different background who has still stayed as one of my closest friends. She's always available for a cup of coffee and a chat.
We met in the University when she turned out to be the one who's notes everyone borrowed. I was very not diligent at the time and therefore highly valued her friendship. She hardly ever spoke up in class (except when numbers were involved) but had some very interesting ideas which I ended up voicing. That kind of symbiosis was the thing that really brought us together.

Alex - My very own personal computer whiz. We met in the University because I'd bitten off more than I could chew and he pulled me through. I've been relying on him ever since.
We've lived together twice (neither time a relationship - just roommates) and he's one of the most flexible people I know. I was a bitch to him and still he didn't abandon me.
He quit school to go and live in Spain for a year and came back a lot more centred and confident. I'm happy things are going great for him.

Chris - The person who's face has been familiar to me the longest. We went to the same primary school but never talked. And then I found her studying the same thing I was in the University. We got to talking one day and have been friends ever since.
She's someone who never gets mad or angry - I really admire her self-control. At the same time she refuses to grow up and postpones the adult life however she can. Right now she's in Munich volunteering. I envy that!

Megan - We got to talking when we both took a Russian class in the University. Of course, we shared a lot of the other classes but they had too many people to single anyone out. And we've been friends ever since.
She's the one who usually gets the first dose of whatever's on my mind and she has been handling it perfectly. I think my laugh-total is the highest when we're together and we have more private jokes than with anyone else (TOWSBM, yodelling goats and sucking cows to name but a few).
Megan's a weird mix of decisiveness and confusion in a sense that she can make important decisions in a blink of an eye while "which wine to drink?" is a question of insurmountable difficulty.

Lynn - She studied with the rest of us in the University but then decided to go to Riga instead. I didn't see her a lot when she was there but always felt comfortable with her, perhaps because our birthdays are close and we share a lot of the core values.
When she came back to Tallinn we (Chris, Megan, Lynn and I) formed the four musketeers for awhile until cracks occurred. I still hang out with her a lot and she was the one who helped me the most with the Hellhole. Since I now live very close to her, we get to see more of each other - the pesky public transport won't get in the way anymore.
