In the early hours of day
When the world is still and fresh.
And the dew and sunlight play
In the early morning hush.
Then I rise to greet the window,
Breathe the sparkling morning air.
Clear away the dull of night
And turn to find you there.
I love you best at morning,
Love is sweeter than before,
When the rooster calls his warning
And the milkman's at his chore.
But when the black night paints the sky
And evening's at the door--
I feel the peace within me
And I love you even more.
