Better Than Dennis Cake

        1 package yellow cake mix
        1-20 oz. can of crushed pineapple
        1 cup sugar 4 sliced bananas
        1-6 oz. package of instant vanilla pudding mix
        3 cups of milk
        1-8 oz.container of whipped topping (Cool Whip)
        1/4 cup rum (optional)
        1 tablespoon of lemon juice (optional)
        1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

      Prepare the yellow cake according to the directions on
      the package. Bake in a 9" by 13" greased and floured
      pan and allow to cool. Punch holes in the top of the cake
      with a fork. Mix the pineapple and sugar together in a
      saucepan and place over low heat until the mixture
      thickens slightly. Remove the pan from the heat and allow
      to cool. Spread the cooled mixture over the cake. Slice
      the bananas and place in a saucepan with the rum and
      lemon juice. Warm over medium heat until slightly
      thickened. Remove from heat, cool, and spread over the
      pineapple. Mix the pudding mix with the milk and spread
      over the bananas. Spread the whipped topping over the
      pudding and sprinkle it with chopped pecans if desired.
      Refrigerate overnight.
