83-2586 (2366) Gibson 1921 A-Jr. 65157, brown, vg+, OH. It is one of the best sounding A-Jrs. we've ever had; very simply made, with no binding on top or back, it's just spruce glued to maple. This remarkable instrument has an actual three-piece top of spruce stained mahogenously. The two-piece back and the sides are darkly stained maple to match the top. Fingerboard ebony and the pickguard is long gone. The interior label is crystal clear, without the detritus of rodentia which we sometimes see inside old instruments (or the tumbling hair and dust balls). There is a hint of playwear from the fingers and pick on the top and there is the slightest suggestion of a re-glued back edge. Peghead is completely black and A-Jrs lack the adjustable feature no matter when they were made, but this one was made right on the cusp of the adjust. Tuners are original, strings are fresh and bronze, and the sound is marvelous -- very very loud, open and woody. **$927
